The Stitch Society—A Wool Stitching Group

Starting Oct 1 or 4—1st Sat. or 1st Tues. of each month — 10:30am –12:30 pm We are really excited to offer a new monthly wool stitching program designed by Amy McClellan of Under

the Garden Moon who also designed our popular Sewing Bucket Block of the Month earlier this year. The

purpose of the Society is to learn and perfect embroidery stitches and features embroidery, wool appliqué,

embellishment and needlework. Each meeting will include: demonstrations and tips on project construc-

tion and decorative stitches, and of course, great social time and maybe even some treats of the edible

variety!

As part of the 12 month program, you will receive 15 wool appliqué

motifs and a small project pattern featuring a hexagon design -- every

month – for a total of 180 motifs and 12 patterns. The program also

includes two acrylic hexagon templates, a stitching guide with 54

stitches, Jan-Dec binder divider pages, plastic dividers, 2‖ binder to hold

all your motifs and stitch patterns plus 12 recipes. The program offers

a lot of flexibility to make one hexagon block for the small project or up

to 15 each month to make a table runner or table topper, or the large,

all-wool hexagon quilt. Kits will be available each month for the small

project, or collect your own wool for a larger project. We have lots of

wool and threads available in the shop.

finishes as a 90″ square quilt (queen size). The project is designed by Jeanie

The 2017 Tonga Forest Floor collection is a pal-

ette of light to dark autumn hues. The Forest

Floor quilt is a twist on tradition featuring twelve,

Button Hole Perfection — Have you admired our wonderful samples with the amazing ma-

chine button hole stitch? Now you can learn Joan‘s secrets of how to get that perfect button hole

stitch for any appliqué project. Class includes a sample piece to practice on to show you how to do

inside and outside curves, points, 45* angles, etc. Then you will be ready to start on your own pro-

jects. We have great kits available to get you started or kits that will give a fun challenge.

Nine-Patch Gradations— This quilt might look com-

plicated but it is very simple to create. The artistic illusions is

all in the fabric selection. In this class we will start with walk-

use up lots of scraps!

Annual Fiber Faire ―Works of Heart‖

Saturday- October 8, 2016 9 am to 4 pm

Garden Valley High School

Fiber Craft Displays, Vendors and more

Join fiber artists from near and far as they gather to celebrate ‗Works of Heart‖. Explore the fiber displays, visit with

vendors featuring rugs, quilted items, knitted and crocheted items, art quilts, wool …. and so much more. This has

been a great family event and a place to learn about what fiber artists do and have done over the years.

Everyone is welcome and it‘s free (Donation to food bank appreciated). So, gather up the family and head to the Gar-

den Valley High School multi-purpose room to learn something new, enjoy the booths and displays, and discover the

world of fiber arts.

October Retreat at Trinity Pines It's retreat time! We have scheduled our October retreat at Trinity Pines in Cascade. For

those of you who haven't had a chance to join us at Trinity Pines, you are in for a real

treat! The large conference center that we use sets on top of a beautiful mountain over-

looking the river. We sleep in very nice cottages just down the path from the conference

center and all the meals are prepared for us so we just sew, sew, sew!

Winter Wonderland We are participating in this year‘s

Wooly Block Adventure…

Come join in the fun!!!

How about this… it's like a shop hop, but it's not... no fees, no passports and all fall to

play! Simply visit any of the participating shops and receive a free pattern for a 8‖ wool

block. Combine your blocks in any way to create a unique project(s) that represents the

fun you had traveling throughout the fall and the holiday season. Travel with friends, dis-

cover new quilt shops and have fun collecting blocks!

Prizes, collectibles and more fun! Combine your blocks to created completed project(s) (appliqués stitched, project backed

and labeled such as table runners, pillows, wallhangings, bags, etc.) using 8 different pat-

terns from at least 8 different Wooly Block Adventure participating shops. You will also re-

ceive a verification tags with your patterns that you will bring with completed project(s).

The first person to bring your projects from 8 different shops will receive:
