I hope that all of you had a wonderful and exciting summer, as en-
ter and prepare for the coming of the holiday season. Our assembly
and Color Corp have been very busy these past months. The elec-
tion of the new officers has given our Assembly a new form of dedi-
cation and purpose. The Installation of Assembly Officers on Sep-
tember 1st showed that Divine Mercy Assembly # 3082 is ready to
move on. A large thank you to our Faithful Friar, Fr. Brian Cidlevich
for stepping in and presiding as Staff Friar during the ceremony, I
also want to thank Bishop Gallagher Assembly for putting together
a wonderful program and dinner.
During our last Assembly meeting in August a donated transport
chair was presented to our home parish Sacred Heart Church in
Aurburn Hills. Fr. Richard Cavellier, pastor of Sacred Heart Church ,
said that it will be put to good use in the church. Our transport
chair committee has been working with Fr. Baumgartner Council #
5452 to also donate three transport chairs to the other churches
that the council supports. St. Irenaeus on 9-11-2011, St. Andrew on 9-25- 2011, and St. John Fisher.
These chairs are dedicated in “HONOR of OUR
VETERANS” 11-11-2011. The embroidering is on
black cloth attached to the back of the chair with
gold lettering, a American Flag on one side, and
the Kof C symbol on the other. The name of the
council 5452 is also in gold below the symbols. A
very thankful appreciation to the Transport Chair
Committee, especially to SK John McKevitz, and
PFN, SK Jim Bruewer for there outstanding effort
in getting this done.
We will be welcoming three new Sir Knights at the 4th Degree Exemplification on Sept.17th, they are Peter
Cirulis, Forrest Cooper, and Mark Havas. Thank you men joining, I hope that with your help, our Assem-
blies up and coming fraternal yearly events will be very successful.

Pro-Life : Mary’s Mantle
As Catholic men, Knights are
called to defend the dignity of
life. The KofC engage in many
ways to respect life, particularly
lives of the unborn. Whether it
be the purchasing of ultra sound
machines for pregnancy clinics,
participating in Life Chains and
40 Days for Life prayer vigils,
Pro Life March in Washington
DC and Right To Life benefits. If
you haven’t gotten engaged look
for the opportunity, and if noth-
ing else praying and fasting are
wonderful ways to help.
Much of our effort is directed
towards convincing the estab-
lishment and women that abor-
tion is wrong. But what often
goes unnoticed is the need to
help women contemplating
abortion who choose life for
their babies. This is where
charities such as Mary’s Mantle
play a critical role.
Mary’s Mantle was established
in 2010 for the specific purpose
of providing a safe haven for
homeless pregnant women who
choose life over death for their
babies. Mary’s Mantle is a
Catholic residential program
(recognized by the Archdiosese )
in Southfield, that provides
expectant mothers an opportu-
nity to experience and witness
love and healthy relationships.
They come to fully understand
their responsibilities as moth-
ers. With the help of staff and
volunteers, Mary’s Mantle works
diligently to help plan for their
future. The expectant mothers
use community resources and
local churches who welcome
them as part of their faith com-
munity.
To date Mary’s Mantle has cele-
brated the birth of 5 babies, and
the home currently has 3 moth-
ers well along in their preg-
nancy.
The home is funded purely on
donations, and has an annual
budget of $130,000. The Board
of Directors includes one priest,
two deacons and two Knights.
If you are interested in consider-
ing making a charitable contri-
bution to Mary’s Mantle please
contact SK Barry Doherty (248-
3 9 1 - 1 2 4 9 ) o r
www.marysmantle.net. Mary’s
Mantle is 501.3c tax deductible
charity.

The Stars &
Stripes
The star ( an ancient symbol of India, Per-sia and Egypt) sym-bolizes dominion and sovereignty, as well as lofty aspiration. The constellation of stars within the union, one star for each state, is emblematic of our federal consti-tution which reserves to the states, their individual sovereignty except as to the rights delegated by them to the federal government. The symbolism of the flag was thus inter-preted by Washing-ton: " We take the stars from heaven, the red from our mother country, sepa-rating it by the white stripes, thus showing that we have sepa-rated from her, and the while stripes shall go down to posterity representing liberty." Michigan in 1837 be-came a state, and is the 26th star on our flag

St. Irenaeus Blue Mass
The Divine Mercy Assembly Color Corps for participated in the Blue Mass at St Irenaeus on the tenth anniversary of Sep-
Apostolic Visit of the Holy Father
to the White House
During Pope Benedict’s April 16 meeting with Presi-dent Bush at the White House, 30 Fourth Degree Knights in full regalia provided an honor guard for the ceremony. It was the first time the Fourth Degree stood in formation for a pope and president at the White House
Kot Kot Reaches Out
Sir Knight News : Divine Mercy Assembly #3082 Page 3
Kot Kot the nine year old young man from the Philippines that the Assembly now sponsors (pictured right), has sent us his first letter. Below is a copy of this letter, a letter written in Kot Kot’s own hand
writing. To the delight of the Assembly SK Bill Travik (the catalyst behind establishing this sponsorship through the Christian Foundation for Children and Aging) read the letter to all. What a heart warming, uplifting letter to share. It is our understanding that there is another young man sponsored by the Knight of Columbus, and Bill is working on estab-lishing a connection between the two youngsters...who knows, these fine lads might one day make great Knights (talk about a long term plan to distribute a form 100).
Note the letter is a bit light, and difficult to read in spots, but you’ll get most of it.

Special Election
On July 26, 2011 a special elec-tion was held to fill the vacated Faithful Captain Office. Nomina-tions were accepted and SK Duane Creviston was elected Faithful Captain. Elected to back-fill Duane’s office of Faith Pilot was SK Mike McDermott. Con-gratulations to Duane and Mike.
Two new committees were also formed. SK Alex Kiwior has stepped up as Admissions Direc-tor, and SK Jim McKevits has formed a committee including SK Jim Bruewer, SK Daryl Schwartz, SK John Benczik and SK John Kozlowski to investigate donating wheel chairs to a veterans group. Thanks to everyone for volunteer-ing.
