Varsity,

This semester is flying by! Only 2 more tournaments this semester – Creek-

view & Berkner. It is amazing to look back to Grapevine and see how far

we have come! The leadership of our officers has helped this team progress

a long way in a short amount of time. We have already won 1st and 2nd Place

Sweepstakes and that is quite remarkable!

You can’t imagine how thrilling it is for me to see students staying after

school to work on cases and rehearse interp. The spirit and dedication of

this team is electrifying! I’m excited to see who the next Leanza Bethel,

Ashley Kim, Micheal Bass, Elliott Garza and Brian Wilcox will be…is it

you? Will you be a State Champion or National Qualifier?

I’m very impressed with the unity of this particular team. There is not one

single “Negative Nelly” or “Debbie Downer.” Every person shows enthusi-

asm and dedication to our common goal of domination! Even if you don’t

go to the finals, your semi-finals break and positive energy help our team to

be our best. I know that together we can continue to improve and have indi-

vidual and team success.

Thank you for your time, energy, positivity, cooperation, enthusiasm, dedi-

cation and teamwork!

I’m so proud of each and every one of you. Keep up the outstanding job!

Much respect,

Stewy

A WORD FROM OUR

Page 13: Volume 1, edition 5

WONDERFUL COACHES!

Dear Debate Team,

I am so thrilled about the way this year is going! We are making huge strides and

great successes are happening on this team. The hard work that I have been seeing

in class and after school is truly paying off, and I could not be more proud of you

all.

These last two tournaments are going to be very competitive, but if you have been

working hard in class and working hard after school, you will find out just how

much it matters. If you are rehearsing and/or debating the way you will at the

tournaments, you will be ready. If you are working and focused in class and after

school, you will be ready. If you took the advice from ballots and judges, and

worked on those critiques, you will be ready. If you watched finals and saw what

winners are doing in their pieces or debates, and applied those to your pieces/

cases, you will be ready.

I truly can’t wait to go to Creekview and Berkner, not only because I know we will

have tons of success, but also, because I get to go! I am looking forward to talking

to some of you in B3, whom I hardly ever get to see, and I can’t wait to see the in-

terpers’ performances!

Please know how proud I am to be a part of this team and how much of an honor is

it for me to work with you all.

Mrs. Martens

As always, THANK YOU to our wonderful coaches Mrs.

Lory Stewart and Mrs. Erin Martens.

Additional thanks to all of the parent judges and alumni

that volunteer their time to help the team out. You are

greatly appreciated.

Lastly, thank you to the parents who are willing to drive

us to school at six in the morning and pick us up at

midnight. We love you!
