SCORINGA. One point is awarded to the either team
each time there is a violation of any rule by the opposite team.
B. The game is played to 25 points.C. The winning team must have a 2 point
advantageD. A match is the best three out of five
games.
SERVING ORDER
A. All six players must serve, you may not skip your turn.
B. You must not step on or over the end line until the ball has been served. (Any location along end line is legal)
C. The service alternates between teams as a side out.
D. Does not occur until the first server from both
teams has completed the first serve.
E. The team receiving the ball for service immediately rotates in a CLOCKWISE rotation.
SERVING
A. Underhand -Hit the ball off the holding hand.
B. Overhand serve -Hit the ball after tossing it from the hand.
C. When a player serves out of turn, a side out is called and any points that were made are cancelled.
D. The team serving must announce the score and service before every serve.
PLAYING THE BALLA. A player may not
hit the ball twice in a row.
(A block doesn’t count as a hit.)
B. The player may use any part of the body from the waist up.
CONTACTING THE BALL
A total of 3 hits is allowed by one team.A. FOREARM PASS or BUMP (You may not hit the
ball underhanded with an open hand.)

Net PlayA. If the ball touches the net when it is being
rallied it is still good.B. If two people block, either one of the players
may hit the ball on the next play. C. At no time when the ball is in play may a player
touch the net with any part of the body.D. A player may not reach over the net to play the
ball. (Follow through is OK)E. A ball may be played after it hits or goes into
the net.
RULE VIOLATIONSA. Server steps on the line while serving.B. A player hits the ball more than once
in succession.D. A team has more than three contacts
of the ball.E. A player touches the net with any part
of the body.F. A player steps completely over the
center line.
BOUNDARY LINESA. If the ball lands on the line it is
considered good.
B. A player may step on but not completely over the center line.
C. A player may go outside the boundary line to play the ball.
TERMS
•BLOCK – a defensive play in which players attempt to hit the ball at the net with their hands above the net
•SPIKE - the ball is hit with an open hand above your head and usually above the net.
• ACE – a serve that is untouched by the receiving team
• SIDE-OUT – the serving team commits a foul
• PERFECT PLAY – pass, set and spike
• Lift or Carry – contacting the ball with the palm of the hand while the palm is facing upward.
• FOREARM PASS/BUMP - the ball is hit off the forearms while the hands are clasped together.
• SET - the ball is contacted overhead using the fingertips of both hands.
• DIG - The ball is contacted with a closed fist while the ball is below your head.
• DINK - The ball is hit with a closed fist while the ball is above your head. (usually the ball is near the net)
