DesignerThe classic Vola design was created by Arne Jacobsen, known the world over for outstandingarchitecture and design. Also famous for his furniture, lighting and tableware, Jacobsen had anuncompromising sense of duty towards functional design whether it’s for a building or a tea spoon.Since Jacobsen's death in 1971, Teit Weylandt, a former assistant to Arne Jacobsen and VolaDirector Carsten Overgaard, have continued to introduce new products into the world famous Volarange and thus established Vola as an international brand whilst keeping the original principles ofexcellent design and functionability.

Idea‘Necessity’ they say is the mother of invention, so when Arne Jacobsen needed a revolutionarydesign idea for his award winning National Bank of Denmark project Verner Overgaard of Vola A/Swas only too pleased to help. He proposed a wall mounted mixer where all the mechanical parts arehidden within the wall leaving only the mixer handle and spout visible to the user. At that time thiswas a completely new concept but Jacobsen could see the potential. Combining Verner Overgaard’sidea with his own functionalistic approach to design, the simple and concise Vola design we knowtoday was born. After 35 years in production, the unchanged Vola design has proved itself time andtime again and continues to be the world’s leading design in high quality taps and accessories.

Design prizesNot long after production began Vola was awarded the ID-prize for it’s excellent design. Internationalrecognition soon followed with Vola being selected for exhibition in centres of architecture and designsuch as Museum of Modern Art New York, Kunstgewerbemuseum Cologne, Cincinnati Art Museum,Neue Sammlung Munich, to mention just a few.

ManufacturerVola is manufactured by Vola A/S, a long established Danish company situated on the outskirts ofHorsens. Founded in 1873, Vola A/S is still owned and managed by the Overgaard family.

MaterialVola can be purchased in solid stainless steel, polished or brushed chrome as well as 18 richcolours. A large selection of the Vola range is also available in un-lacquered brass.

Quality controlEach stage of the production process from inspection of the raw brass, through to the finished tap,is subject to Vola A/S’ intense quality control system based on the ISO 9001 quality system.

Finishes

Finishes: The colour finished are produced by using an epoxy-polyester mixture which is oven fired to very high temperatures ensuring a resilient, knock proof finish. The high quality polished chrome finish is achieved by buffing the natural brass to a very high sheen before applying the chrome plating process. Please note that coloured items may not match exactly with examples shown, as the colour reproductionprocess used within this brochure is not always 100% accurate.

General information

Composition The Vola range is built on a modular system comprising valves, handles, outlets,finishing plates and accessories. These components can be used in an infinite numberof ways to meet any requirement whether it be kitchen, bathroom, shower room orutility area. All Vola in-wall mixers are available with integral or remote outlets makingit possible to position control handles and spouts independently.Short, medium or long levers are available on most models to ensure easy usewhatever the application. Spouts for kitchen, wash basin, bath or bidet are offered invarious sizes as standard. However, special sizes are available on request. All wallcombinations are supplied with circular finishing flanges or a choice of 2, 3 or 4 holerectangular plates allowing handles, outlets and accessories to be grouped togethergiving the appearance of a single unit.

Mixer and stop valves The many different valve options offered by Vola enable the specifier to select the unitmost suitable for the required purpose whether a water-saving mixer for wash basin,or a high flow combination for bath filling.Most Vola mixing valves are suitable only for use with pumped or pressurised hotwater systems though a small selection can be used with gravity feed hot & cold -please ask your distributor for details.

As part of the strict quality control at Vola A/S, every Vola component is thoroughlytested before leaving the factory. Under normal working conditions Vola mixercartridges are maintenance-free for a minimum period of 5 years after installation.

Maintenance It is not necessary to clean the colour and chrome surfaces with a detergent.Wiping with a damp cloth daily is all that is required. The polished brass surfacerequires cleaning with a brass cleaner. Non acid-based cleaners must be used whencleaning Vola stainless steel products.

Lime scale build-up can be removed from spout filters or aerators by soaking invinegar for a few hours.
