Dear All,

“Change your Thoughts and Change your World” - Earl Nightingale

Change is the key that unlocks the door to growth and excitement in an organization. We are so focused on today’s problems that we put off planning for tomorrow’s opportunities.

Keeping change alive starts with rewarding innovation, risk-taking and creativity. In the end, it is important to remember that we cannot become what we need to be by remaining who we are:

Best wishes!

Dear all,

With the ‘Rope-In’ of our new folks into our NTTF campuses, we are enriched with yet another set of young aspiring NTTFians who are going to be the future technicians for the industry. The introduction of PC tabs and Virtual class room sessions, has given NTTF students the privilege of getting into the digital way of learning through ‘E-learning’. This is a great milestone set by our management in the history of NTTF to secure the future career of our students.

We are happy to release this year’s second edition with glimpses of events from across our centres in the last quarter. This edition includes an informative message by our leadership team, some interesting articles by our faculty and staff, information about various corporate training programmes conducted, a picture gallery and much more. I hope this would help all our readers to know more about NTTF and its people.

I am sure you will enjoy reading this edition of our ‘Innovator’ and continue to give your valuable inputs for this quarterly magazine, benefiting all our stake holders.

The true mantra of NTTF is to ‘Build skills that shape our Nation”.

With Best wishes,

NTTF would like to congratulate and welcome all the Freshers. You have

joined a legendary training institute with agreat opportunity to secure your future.

Dawn of one more exciting academic year for many, just one more year of ordinary life gone for some, closer to achievement of life goal for few…each of us looks at the current stage in our lives in different ways.

What makes these perceptions differ? How does one evaluate oneself on such occasions? No one can pass a judgment about my success or failure other than me. My teachers or bosses can only pass a judgment on my performance in the exams/work. A judgment on my success or failure or my achievements up to this stage in my life is entirely mine. Each of us needs to evaluate our own lives based

on our life goals, what we want to achieve or where we would like to be in our lives.

It is said the greatest battles of life are fought in the deepest realms of our heart. I can pretend to the whole world but I can’t run away from myself. Do I feel good about what is happening to me, am I feeling satisfied with what I have done, contributed and achieved? The more positive your answers are to the above questions, the happier you would be with yourself. This is one of the indicators of success in one’s life. Another equally difficult question to answer is - could I have done something more, something different or better? Only I know the answer. Often taking refuge in the Indian philosophy of Karma, we blame our environment, background and a host of other things for our situation. We don’t take ownership of our situation.

I do believe that our past deeds, Karma etc., has brought us to our current situation. Our decisions and actions in this current situation decide our future. It is therefore important for us to consciously optimize on every opportunity available, do what we believe is the right thing for our future, and give it our best.

We may not have many things we desire but we have to work towards achieving them. It is also important we appreciate what we have. Each of us needs to be grateful for what we have and work with an attitude of gratitude. We need to do everything to the best of our abilities to achieve our goals.

In life there is no second chance, therefore we need to do the best in our chosen field or duty every day. We need to make use of our intelligence, experience and the knowledge we have, put in the maximum effort so that the results continue to be good and rewarding. This is the only way to not have regrets later in life.

Only we can lead our lives. What our parents and teachers can do is limited; they can guide us and tell us what is good for us. Are we living for today or are we creating our future? I believe our current situation is an opportunity for an investment into our future. We need to make the most of Today!

Wish you the very best in your journey ahead!

Regards,

Shrihari UdupaExecutive Director, NTTF

“Mentoring is a professional relationship in which an experienced person (the mentor)

assists an inexperienced person (the protégé) in developing specific skills and knowledge that will enhance their professional and personal growth.” - Mentoring is a long-term commitment.

To be an effective Mentor, we need to:

• Have the desire to help - Should be willing to spend time helping someone else, and remain positive throughout

• Be motivated to continue developing and growing - OOur own development never stops.

To help others develop, a mentor must value their own growth too. Many mentors say that mentoring helps them with their own personal development

• Have confidence and an assured manner - This does not mean overconfidence or ego. Rather, mentor should have the ability to critique and challenge protégé in a non-threatening way and help them to look at a situation from a new perspective.

• Ask the right questions - The best mentors ask questions in a way that makes the protégé think. A simple guide is to think of what is to be told to the mentee & to find a question, which will help the mentee take the same conclusion on their own. To do this, try asking open questions that cannot be answered with just yes or no. Or else ask more direct questions that offer several optional answers. Then ask the mentee to give the reason for choosing that particular answer

• Listen actively - Be careful to process everything the mentee is saying. Observe body

language, maintain eye contact, and understand which topics are difficult for the mentee to discuss. Showing someone that you’re listening is a valuable skill in itself. It shows that you value what the person is saying and that you won’t interrupt them. This requires patience, and a willingness to delay judgment.

• Provide feedback - Do this in a way that accurately and objectively summarizes what you’ve heard, but also interprets things in a way that adds value for the mentee. In particular, use feedback to show that you understand what the mentee’s thinking approach has been. This is a key to help the mentee see a situation from another perspective.

V A Selva JeevithaSenior Training Officer SNTC - Tuticorin

One fine day in a jolly mood, I went to an exhibition. Even though I was quite afraid of

those spine tingling monsters, the roller coasters, I made up my mind to seek that extreme thrill by getting onto the giant wheel. , Initially, it was very nice to swirl up and down. But I felt a little dizzy when they started to drop everyone out of the giant wheel to exit, because when the exact opposite of my coupe was about to get down, I was on the top. I totally lost my vim and vigor. My eyes were blinking and I could view the illuminated lights of the whole world. Suddenly my eyes spotted the two chains on which my coupe was hanging on.

My imagination went really wild. I thought, if any of the links in the chain is weak, what would happen to me? My valuable life and the lives of those who were in the coupe would be hanging on the strength of that weakest link only. Yes! I realised “A chain is only as strong as its weakest link”.

I’ve given the general meaning of the phrase. However, it usually does not apply to chains, but to people. We usually raise voice that “Team Work” comes off well. It’s true that when we stand as a team we can reach the sky of our dreams, but imagine what if any one person in the team is a false driver who pulls back. All our efforts will somehow pause. Each and every member in a team must have the responsibility and conscientiousness that he / she is part of the task given. Even if we are weak, we must not sit idle and stop. We must accept our stratum of strength and should try hard to compete with the members of the team. On the other hand, while working as a team, sometimes we come across the domination

of people who have ample knowledge about their project. This should also be in moderation because this could lead to the drop off of the strength of others.

So, in order to avoid such weakening factors,

•Thestrongestofallmusthelp theweakest inthe team by giving him a job of his strength that would not affect the growth as well as the pride of the team. This should be done without dominating the members of the team

• The weakest of all must not be satisfied withthe little job assigned. He must equip himself to reach the mark of others but keeping in mind that his/her performance should not affect the entire teams work

Now as part of the team of NTTF “We must jump on the band wagon with cohesive spirit, to make our organization maintain its niche, elevated status above all other institutions in this beautiful nation”.
