Suddenly, a group of people from the factory approached
the small café and began to collectively shout, “Beat
him to death!”
Fearing for my life, I began to run. I tripped
in the dark and fell into the river… the gang
caught up with me and physically
assaulted and verbally abused me.
The police would not acknowledge my
statements regarding being chased and beaten by
the gang.

At one of the facilities, upon arrival my colleague was greeted by a sign
which read - migrant workers not allowed past this
point.... meaning they were forbidden to come anywhere near the office!
…we’re off to a great start…
…I didn't know whether to cry or be sick.... I had been in
plenty of dorms in China in my day and felt I was pretty resilient but what I saw I
wasn't prepared. Indescribable conditions for the migrant laborers. (?)
After a silent journey back to the car and a few minutes of silence in the car I asked
the auditor:
“Is this the worst you have ever seen?”
He paused….
“Yes I think this is the worst I have ever seen....”
