Configuring FortiVoice™ for Voiceflex

When you sign up with Voiceflex, they will provide all the information required to configure the

service on your FortiVoice system.

Setting up a VoIP profile for this service provider

A VoIP profile contains the settings that allow your FortiVoice system to connect with the

provider.

1. In the left navigation, select Phone System.

2. Select Profiles.

3. In the VoIP tab, at the top of the page, enter a label in the Name field.

4. Set the Provider to Manual Configuration.

5. Click . The VoIP Profile Settings window appears.

6. Complete the VoIP Servers section:

• Enter sip.voiceflex.com as the Proxy server name.

• Enter sip.voiceflex.com as the Registrar server name.

• Enter sip.voiceflex.com as the Outbound proxy.

• Enter sip.voiceflex.com as the Realm/domain.

7. Complete the Codec Options section:

• The following codecs are supported by this provider:

i. G711u — This codec provides good quality and supports Fax over IP. It requires the

most bandwidth and accommodates the fewest number of concurrent calls. G711u is

used in North America and Japan.

ii. G711a — This codec provides high quality and supports Fax over IP. It requires the

most bandwidth and accommodates the fewest number of concurrent calls. G711a is

used worldwide outside North America and Japan.

iii. G729 — This codec provides good quality. It requires the least bandwidth and

accommodates the highest number of concurrent calls.

• Voice activity detection — This is disabled by default, as it is not recommended for this

service.

• Select the Preferred codec you wish to use with this provider.

8. Complete the Additional Settings section:

• Set Public IP address substitution to Disabled.

• Set P-asserted identity to Disabled.

• Set NAT keep alive to Simple Ping Enabled.

• Set Register authentication to by phone number.

9. Click OK.

Setting up VoIP numbers

Voiceflex has provided you with numbers and passwords that need to be entered into the

configuration by following these steps.

1. In the left navigation, select Trunks.

2. Select VoIP.

3. Set the Profile to the one you created for this provider.

4. Enter the provided phone number in the Number field.

5. Click .

6. Find the phone number you just added and click .

7. Enter the phone number and password in the Username and Password fields.

8. Repeat steps 1 to 7 for all additional phone numbers you have been provided.

Setting up call handling

The Inbound page allows you to configure the call handling for your VoIP number.

1. In the left navigation, select Call Routing.

2. Select Inbound.

3. In the VoIP Numbers tab, find the VoIP number you wish to configure and click to expose

the call handling options.

4. Set up call handling for the VoIP number. For more information on setting up call handling,

see your FortiVoice system’s admin guide.

Setting up outgoing access code

1. In the left navigation, select Call Routing.

2. Select Outbound.

3. Check the box of the access code you wish to use.

4. Enter a label in the Name field.

5. Click to expose the configuration options.

6. Set the Line Type to the profile you created for this provider.

7. Optionally, set an overflow access group if all lines in this group are busy. A failover to

telephone lines is recommended as a protection against VoIP trunk failure (for example, loss

of broadband access).

Saving settings

Click Save to apply your settings to the FortiVoice system.

For additional information, see your FortiVoice system’s admin guide.

Ensure that Outgoing Access Code 9 is assigned to the group of telephone lines or VoIP trunks

used to call emergency services.
