TEEN NIGHT Calling all Teens

FRESHMAN to SENIOR: You are invited to join us for Teen Night,

Every other Weds. night at 6:30 pm.

April 2 – WILL NOT MEET

April 11 – 13 Search Weekend April 16 – 6:30 pm in the Teen Room

Did You Know? We are in week four in our examination of conscience in preparation for the parish Reconciliation Service on April 7th. Using the set of questions from the article Lord, Make Us One! from the booklet The Word Among Us, this week we focus upon “Whatever is pure…Have I guarded my mind and my eyes against lust? Have I acted impurely, either with someone else or with myself? Am I treating my husband or wife with honor and respect?” (Reprinted with permission of The Word Among Us, 7115 Guilford Dr #100, Frederick, MD 21704 Lent 2014, www.wau.org, 1-800-775-9673.)

Confirmation 2015 Confirmation for youth at Spirit of Life is scheduled during their sophomore year of high school. Preparation begins in July following the freshman year with attendance of the Cor Christi Institute at the University of Mary, July 21-25, 2014. The Cor Christi Institute faculty of priests and instructors cover more thoroughly the needed educational material in one week than we can cover in the whole year, and provide students with a living encounter with the foundational teach-ings and practices of the Catholic faith. Letters will be sent out based on our computer information, however, if you do not receive a letter, please call the office and request the needed registration materials. The registration deadline for Cor Christi is June 4, 2014. For more information call Deb at 663-1660.

The Passion of The Christ at Spirit of Life The film, The Passion of The Christ will be shown in the Spirit of Life Activity Center on Monday, April 14th at 7pm. Refreshments will be available. This film is being presented by the Spirit of Life Knights of Columbus.

LENTEN REMINDER The Parish Pantry is in dire need of baby items such as dia-pers, wipes, lotion, etc. as well as toiletries; such as shampoo, bar soap, toilet paper, etc. Please deposit these and like items in the large boxes in the greeting space of the church.

SPEND MORE TIME WITH JESUS THIS LENT As Lent arrives and we contemplate how God is calling us to a deeper relationship with Him, please consider spending time with Him in adoration. Several of you have been so faithful in your weekly commitment at the Perpetual Adoration Chapel at Spirit of Life. There are some time slots that we have been filling on a week to week basis. Some people have formed small groups of 2-4 people to cover an hour between them. That means a commitment of only an hour every other week or even once a month. The toughest hours to fill – yet the most peaceful – are the midnight through 4 AM times. Per-haps you could form a prayer group to cover one of those hours one day a week. Please make it a priority for this Lent to spend more time in adoration. To schedule individually or as a group on an open hour, call Spirit of Life @ 663-1660.

Because of your generosity, 248 adults and 233 children were fed through the Spirit of Life Food Pantry in February. 48 people were assisted in other areas. TIME: Adoration, saying the Rosary, praying for others in need, help with funerals, assisting homebound, funeral lunches, hospital or nursing home visits, soup kitchen TALENT: Parish committees, office help, music SERVICE: Altar Server, Eucharistic Minister, Hospitality, Ushers, Music, Educational Ministries TOTAL MEALS SERVED AT SOUP KITCHEN IN FEBRUARY: 471 TOTAL NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS IN FEBRUARY: 134 TOTAL NUMBER OF HOURS CONTRIBUTED IN FEBRUARY: 827.5 STEWARDSHIP THOUGHT: Jesus reminds us that material things, even something as basic as water, can never satisfy us for long. When we build our lives around material posses-sions we always want more. True satisfaction only comes when we follow Jesus.
