VALLOUREC & MANNESMANN TUBES (V & M TUBES) is theleading producer of seamless tubular products in North America-- with the majority oil country tubular goods (OCTG). V & MTUBES has the most comprehensive range of ODs, walls andgrades in the world with mills throughout the world dedicatedto the production of OCTG. Through the years, V & M TUBEShas developed a reputation for quality products, exceptional

service and innovation. If V & M TUBES can’t manufacture it, no oneelse can.

For larger ODs (up to 26"), heavy walls (up to 2"), non-standardsizes, special tolerances and special drift dimensions, V & M TUBESmanufacturing plants in Europe and Brazil provide speed of deliveryand ease of import for large OD tubulars.

The company’s North American steel- and pipe-making operationsare based in Youngstown, Ohio. The facility boasts the latesttechnology in electric arc furnace steelmaking and retained mandrelmill pipe production, manufacturing seamless tubular products inODs ranging from 5" to 10-3/4".

Another facility, in Houston, Texas, has heat-treating, hot-sizing,straightening, hydrotesting, third-party inspection and pipe-endfinishing capabilities. The Houston high-tech heat-treat facilityprovides precise temperature control and water quenching, andallows for production of high yield OCTG, coupling stock and linepipe grades required for today's critical environments.

V & M TUBES uses a standard chemistry for most alloy OCTGand coupling stock, which provides customers with the flexibility tomake grade changes prior to heat treatment.

Other North American facilities includeVAM® Premium Connections inCalgary, Alberta, Canada; andVAM® PTS in Houston, both of whichprovide premiumconnections; andPrinver inVeracruz, Mexico, which providespremiumconnections andmanufacturesthreadprotectors.

WPipe-Making FacilitiesWorldwideV & M Tubes’ large Pilger and plugmill in Düsseldorf, Germany, hascapabilities from 2-3/8" to 26" andprovides unsurpassed quality. TheDüsseldorf, Youngstown andHouston facilities are just three of V & M Tubes’ 10 production sitesaround the world devoted to themanufacturing of OCTG.

Additionally, three facilities arelocated in France, manufacturingtubulars from casing, tubing and drillpipe to mechanical tubes, line pipeand tubes for thermal or nuclearpower. There are two additionalGerman mills, one more inDüsseldorf (pierce and draw pipe-making process) and one in Mulheim(continuous mandrel mills). And inBrazil, continuous mandrel and plugmills produce casing, tubing anddrill pipe as well as hollows, mechanical tubes and line pipe. And,finally, a heat-treating and threadingfacility is in Aberdeenshire, UK.

WExceptional ProductsV & M TUBES North America produces hot-rolled seamless steeltubes in sizes ranging from 2-3/8" to 24", in heat-treated or non-heat treated condition, for: OCTG with plain end, API or VAM®

premium threads; API coupling stock; line pipe; standard pipe;mechanical tube; or structurals.

As oil and gas wells go deeper with ever higher pressures, temperatures and more corrosive conditions, requirements fortubulars are increasingly severe. V & M TUBES offers a premiumtubular product to fit any well condition and – with an extensiveresearch and development program – is developing the OCTG of

the future. Tubular products are being

developed with differentgrades of steel, chemicalcomposition and mechanicalproperties such as hardness, fatigue strength, resilience, resistance to corrosion, burstresistance and collapseresistance.High Collapse Grades.

V & M TUBES’ proprietarygrades offer a greater collapserating than comparable API

grades. Collapse resistance is influenced by the combination ofgeometrical and material properties such as wall thickness, ovality, yield strength and residual stresses.

V & M TUBES’ manufacturing processes have a greater collapserating because hot-rolling, hot-straightened manufacturingcapabilities ensure correct wall thickness and minimum residualstress. Sour Service Grades. V & M TUBES has developed sour-resistantgrades with yield strength superior to normal API standard grades.VM-110 SS has been testedextensively, and has been qualifiedunder National Association ofCorrosion Engineers (NACE) testmethods with all three NACEsolutions (A, B and D). With wallthicknesses of up to 1.200" on pipeand coupling stock of 1.900", VM-110 SS has been used in themost demanding applications inthe Gulf of Mexico.

(1) Collapse Values are based on the API formulas in 5C3 and validated through 8d testing unless otherwise noted by an (*).

*Collapse values are based on actual 8d testing results.

(2) All tabulated values for minimum performance properties do not include design safety factors. These values should be used when

considered necessary for the particular application.

(3) Since the internal pressure leak resistance is an important consideration for design, the values listed for the coupling are the lowest of

the values for the internal yield pressure of the pipe, the internal yield pressure of the coupling, or the internal pressure leak resistance.

VAM® CONNECTIONSOV

47

When first developed in the 1960s, VAM premium connectionsrapidly became the standard in the oil and gas industry, differentiating themselves from all others by providing a goodcombination of sealing performance, reliability, economy and"best-in-class" service.

Now, with deeper wells, increasingly deviated holes andlonger horizontals, additional challenges have been created.Casing and tubing have to bear higher compression, externalpressure, bending and torsion loads. And so do the connections.

For gas-tight sealing under the most severe conditions, including greater depths, highly deviated holes and hostileenvironments, VAM® TOP is the ideal connection. VAM TOP isdesigned to handle higher tension and compression loads, andis ideal for tubing and production casing string applications.

VAM TOP has excellent resistance to bending, compressionand internal and external pressures. VAM® TOP HC providesgas-tight performance up to full-pipe body compression ratings.VAM® TOP HT is available for high torque applications and hascompression ratings up to 80% PBYS. VAM® TOP FE is availablefor high-fatigue applications, such as risers and drilling withcasing.

The VAM TOP family of connections is part of a full line ofpremium connections, including threaded and coupledconnections VAM® ACE and VAM® HW ST; integral connectionsVAM® SLIJ-II, VAM® FJL and VAM® MUST; and large ODconnections DINO VAM® and BIG OMEGA™.

Page 46: VMStar Catalog

®

VAM® TOP HC (High Compression) is a T&Cconnection based on the main features of theVAM TOP connection. VAM TOP HC has beendesigned for high compression applicationswhere it may be necessary to apply compressiveloadings to the string. VAM TOP HC is fully gastight to 100% pipe body compression andavailable in sizes 5" to 7 -3/4" OD.
