GRADUATE OPPORTUNITIES IN AGED CARE

Every day Vivir set out to improve the quality of life for thousands of Australian residents in aged care. Our clinicians are our legends, dedicated in their fields of physiotherapy, podiatry, dietetics and occupational therapy. Each week they demonstrate Vivir’s commitment to making lives better by delivering care to over 18,000 beds across Australia.

Vivir was started over 15 years ago by a physiotherapist who saw a need to provide quality care to the elderly. From those modest beginnings it has grown to become one of the largest allied health groups in Australia, and today is still run by clinicians who know the industry, understand the needs of their staff and are passionate about making Vivir a great place to work.

We are extremely proud of our culture. With over 200 legends working for us it’s important they love their work and feel connected to Vivir as a company. In fact, when surveyed 90% of our staff indicated that they enjoyed working for Vivir and would recommend it as an employer to friends.

Our success as an organisation comes from innovation, outstanding customer service, quality assurance and a commitment to both the people who work for us and those we deliver care to.

Committed to making lives better

I have had opportunities to take onboard Musculoskeletal patient loads, as well as work in more traditional aged care settings. Vivir is a company that takes its values seriously and has promoted a culture that lives and breathes them.

Aged Care: The fastest growing industry in Australia

Australia is an ageing population – life expectancy has doubled over the last century. For men it is 75 years and for women it is now 81. This is increasing the number and proportion of elderly citizens who will generally suffer from complex chronic conditions. As the ‘baby boomers’ enter retirement we will also see a significant increase in the demand for aged care services.

By 2050

Over 3.5 million older Australians will access aged care services each year

In 2013

14% of the population was 65+ 1.9% of the population was 85+ 2013

2050

} Supported by 350,000 aged care workers

} this will require the support of

1 million aged care workers

A change is occurring …

There is now a shift towards residents having greater control over the design and delivery of care and services they receive. Providers are also adjusting to the change with facilities being created to encourage community sustainability and extra services offered to entice older Australians.

What does this mean for an Allied Health professional?

More consultative private practice style approach

Access not only to your residents but their families and the wider community

A comprehensive and clinically broad program is essential for the facility to promote to the community and compete with other providers

Here are what some of our clinicians say ...

What does it mean to work in Aged Care?

You make a difference and become a significant part of people’s lives. Quite often seeing them on a daily basis which has a huge impact on their level of care.

On site you are the expert. You drive the clinical delivery of your program and make it what you want.

It pays to have a sense of humour.

A growing industry that is only going to get bigger.

Goals and outcomes are achievable and ongoing, you are a influential part of the residents life.

You have access to an integrated clinical team that can focus on all areas of the residents’ life.
