Project Overview

Project management as a discipline, is the process which applies methods, knowledge, skills and experience while initiating, planning, organizing, controlling and bringing to a close the work of a group of people having the same goals.

Vivaha veduka project plan is undertaken by a group of project managers with the aim of managing all the phases of the project life cycle of an Indian wedding using the most appropriate methods and tools.

The deliverables of this project are:

Work break down structure • Critical Path • Mind Map • Gantt Chart• Work package description • Work package assignments • Status Reports

Five Phases of Project Management

Definition: This phase kick starts the project. The purpose of this project is to plan an Indian wedding. In this phase, a feasibility study was conducted which included a market survey to determine the cost of the wedding project and the risk attached.

Planning: As soon as the feasibility study was concluded, the activities (critical and non-critical) necessary for the wedding plan were determined and the best course of action was chosen and the date, time, budget (cost), size and style of the wedding was determined.

Organising: The resources necessary for the conduct of the wedding project were co-ordinated and various tasks were assigned in order to successfully implement the project

Controlling: Using project management software, the project was closely monitored and its progress measured to ensure that the objectives of the project are being met. Furthermore, status reports were prepared regularly to check progress.

Closing: The project was accepted by the clients and brought to an orderly end.
