Eye in the Sky


The recently opened Bangkok Sky at Asiatique the Riverfront hasovercome a controversial inception to prove a big draw to cameratoting tourists and Bangkok night time revellers.

Standing 60 metres tall, the giant ferris wheel provides panoramicviews of Bangkok city centre and the lively Chao Phraya River.

But an ill advised dual pricing policy almost derailed the attractionbefore it had even started operating, with foreigners being asked to paymore for their ride than locals.

All prices are equal now, however, and any dissension has evaporated intothe sultry Bangkok evening sky, as enthusiasts flock to get their bird�s eyeview.

Welcome to the Pleasure DomeChocolate lovers have been flocking to the recentlyrevamped Siam Center to sample the treats in store atthe Magnum Cafe.

A variety of imaginative Belgian chocolate based themeshave been created to give those with a sweet tooth theirregular fix, with 20 toppings providing patrons with achance to run riot using their own creativity.

There are also 12 Magnum gourmet items that have beencreated by a famous British chef, as well as a diverserange of more substantial offerings including one platemeals and breakfast and dinner sets.

Over 40 food and beverage items are on the menu, withpleasure seekers the obvious target for the wide range ofice creams, sweets, pastas, pizzas and pastas.

Magnum Cafe can be found on the ground floor of theshopping centre; it is open from 10am until 10pm sevendays a week. The spacious premises measure 400 squaremetres, but the trendy outlet is already very popular, andyou can expect to queue at peak times.

VIE Hotel in Bangkok has changed the emphasis of their hipnightspot with the inauguration of YTSB: the Yellow Tail SushiBar. Fresh interior decor sees the former jazz hotspottransform into a Japanese food and beverage complex.

A stylish sushi restaurant is now located on the third flooroutdoor terrace and the fourth floor airconditioned diningroom, while the second floor features the new �fashionforward� designed VIE Bar that is now operating under themotto �DnD� (Dine and Drink).

The hotel usually attracts socialites, models and celebrities,and the launch party on Friday January 25th was no exception,with fashion shows, champagne, cocktails, saki and, naturally,a great range of sushi and Japanese grilled snacks the orderof the day.
