Oriented Strand Board (OSB)

• OSB is formed from wood particles that are oriented to mesh together and are compressed with a glue additive to form one solid board.

Plywood

• Plywood is made of several thin solid layers of wood that are pressed and glued together in a similar way to OSB. This leaves a nicer looking wood veneer as the exposed surface in comparison to OSB.

• Veneer-refers to thin slices of wood, usually thinner than1/8 inch, that are typically glued onto core panels to produce flat panels

Rebar

• Rebar is cylindrical steel with rigdes forged into the surface to create friction in the concrete. The rebar adds the tensile strength to the slab that concrete alone lacks.

• The rebar pictured here is #5 or 5/8” rebar.

Steep Roof Drainage

• Gutter-Directs water from the roof to the downspout

• Downspout-Carries water to the ground where it is dumped out away from pathways and where it helps drainage.

• Splashblock-Disperses the water as it hits the ground, usually made of concrete, helps prevent eroding.

Waterproofing
