What was the challenge?Ahmedabad Janmarg Ltd has 67 km operational route with 136 buses and about 1.30 lakhs passengers per day. THE BRTS in Ahmedabad has changed the way a majority of amdavadis commute everyday. Being at its first phase, there were certain shortcomings which had to be examined. The challenge lied in re-examining the existing scenario an other information displayed in the system in order to make them more relevant, informative and usable .To fabricate and strategize a ubiquitous structure that paves way for the further development phases of the system making it comprehendable for the users. What was the solution? The communication design need was to come up with a platform which shaped up into dynamic application of a multi modal Journey planner, catering to the needs of different user profiles. This Initiated them to plan (Pre- Journey | During journey | Post- Journey). This application was also embedded in to the re-examined version of the BRT route map, route fare calculation and signages across the city in order to make them more relevant, informative and easy to use and comprehend.
What was the effect?The re-examined information systemic strategies for BRT would make the system cohesive and robust for public to use. It would retain its simplicity so that the information is not only accessible to the public but also easily comprehended by them. Disseminating information about the BRTS and its intermediary transportations through Journey planners, maps and signages would not only help the commuters plan their journey well ahead in advance but also make quick decisions about their travel making them more spontaneous in their daily commute.

Visual design of the Journey Planner
The Journey planner asks the users about their start and end location, with their choice of modes and travel preferences. The planner then lists all possible route options with total journey time. The user then chooses their preferable route and gets the details. They also get to view the routes in the google map.
