LESSON # 1

PAPER JEWELLERY

WHAT IS PAPER JEWELLERY ?

Paper Jewellery- This is the art of creating decorative items, such as rings, necklaces, earrings and bracelets made from paper.

THE STEPS IN CREATING PAPER JEWELLERY

1.Think of your design.

2.Find appropriate materials.

3. Begin your design.

4.Rendering .

(1) THE THINKING PROCESS

•This is where ideas are developed to create the item.

(2) GATHERING OF MATERIALS

•In this stage the creator collects all the materials needed to create the item.

(3) CONSTRUCTION PROCESS

•This is where the creator manipulate the materials to create the paper item as desired.

(4) THE RENDERING PROCESS

•This is where the creator adds the final touches to the artwork to make it complete.

THE PROCESS OF MAKING PAPER BEADS

3.Turn the paper and use the ruler to mark a horizontal line

downwards from the half inch point to the extreme corner.

1.Gather your tools and materials.( glue, ruler, paper, scissors, string)

2. Use your ruler and mark points every half inch on both side of your paper.

4. Repeat the process but on the other side, where the points would

connect.

5.Cut the paper into strips according to how the paper was

marked.

6. Use a toothpick and roll the paper strip from the base of the paper to

the tip of it. Then add glue on the tip of the paper to hold the bead

together.

CREATING PAPER RINGS

•Objectives

• Revision on paper Jewellery.

• Discussion on the type of rings.

• Steps in creating paper rings.

STEPS IN CREATING PAPER RINGS

1. THINK OF YOUR DESIGN AND IMAGINE THE OUTCOME.

2. Gather all the necessary materials such as Paper, glue and scissors

3. DECIDE ON WHICH PIECE OF PAPER WILL BE FOLDED

FOR THE HOOP AND THE OTHER PIECE FOR THE CROWN.

4. Wrap the paper that is going to create the hoop around your finger to get your correct finger size. It is best to wrap the paper and let the edges meet at the top of the finger.

5. GLUE THE AREA WHERE THE EDGES

MEET, IN ORDER TO SEAL THE LOOP.

6. Design the crown of the ring, then glue it at the centre covering the glued edges.

1. DESIGN AND DRAW A CONCEPT FOR A PAPER RING.

3. Attempt to make an exact representation of the ring you design in your note books.

2. You may use your tablets to get ideas for your design.

GRADED ASSIGNMENT

1. DESIGN A PAPER RING WITH A UNIQUE CROWN.

3. Ensure that your name is on your creation.

2. You may use different materials.For example, newspaper magazines, cartage paper.

WHAT ARE PAPER MASK ?

•An item made from paper, for the covering of all or part of someone’s face. This is normally worn to disguise a person identity.

ENTERTAINMENT- (PARTIES)

1.Chinese masks-

These are made of different materials, including shells, cloth leather or paper.

•Most Chinese mask have human or animal features, for example lion, tiger and dragon.

2. African mask: African culture used masks in rituals, these have been used from the earliest days of human civilization. Africans use the mask to communicate with spirits.

3. Caribbean mask: The people of the Caribbean get their ideas of mask mainly from the Chinese, Indians an Africans. For example, carnival in Trinidad and Jamaica…
