Do not collect flowers, plants, fruits, or leaves.

Do not handle wildlife.

Dogs not permitted at Matthaei (except guide dogs).

No bikes on trails or in gardens. Bike racks provided.

Shirts and shoes required indoors.

No alcohol, campfires, or cooking.

No smoking please!

● If possible wear seasonally appropriate footwear for walking or hiking outdoors in natural areas.

● Stay on marked paths to avoid wildlife and plants such as poison ivy.

● Watch young children around ponds and creeks.

● The rare eastern massasauga is a small venomous rattlesnake native to Michigan that lives here at Matthaei. The snake is shy and avoids humans but may strike if threatened. If you encounter the massasauga or any snake, keep a safe distance and do not disturb.
