Welcome to Samford  

Samford University and the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics welcome you to campus.  This travel guide is intended to ensure a pleasant visit to Birmingham and Samford University.   This booklet is a guide for making hotel reservations and dining arrangements, as well as  providing contact information for Samford staff members.  Businesses that have entered  partnership with Samford Athletics are noted in bold letters. We encourage you to use their services when possible.  Identify yourself as a visiting team to get the best available rates.   Please consult individual coaches by sport to discuss additional needs your team may have during your visit to Samford.  These may include locker rooms, shower facilities, athletic  training needs and practice times.   If you have further questions, please contact Samford University Athletics at (205) 726‐2966.  You may also visit our website at www.samfordsports.com. Enjoy your stay in Birmingham!

General Information  

Parking: Samford University is currently in the progress of construction on campus.  The new South Parking Lot is now open.  The new Pete Hanna Center is also now open.  Please call the athletic department for the latest information on parking at 205‐726‐2966.  See the attached campus map at the end of this guide.  Tickets/Concessions: Complimentary team tickets and consignment tickets are available.  Contact the ticket office at 205‐726‐2050.  Locker/Shower Facilities: Facilities for men and women are provided in the new Pete Hanna Center.  The ability to store and lock equipment is not available unless prior arrangements are made.  Contact individual coaches to make those arrangements.  Broadcasting/Media: Samford provides phone lines and space for visiting broadcasting  personnel.  Contact Jay Roberson, Associate Director of Athletics, for further information.  Practice Times: Practice times should be arranged in advance with a university official, prior to arrival.  Contact the individual coach or an administrator one week before desired practice time.  Photo/Video Deck: Film deck space is provided as needed in each athletic facility.  Please  contact individual coaches to make arrangements.  Credentials: The Sports Information Department issues credentials for visiting teams,  administrators and authorized media.  Contact Joey Mullins, Sports Information Director at 205‐726‐2799 for requests.  Ambulance/Safety and Security: Samford provides ambulance and/or on‐site medical trainers and physicians at all intercollegiate events.  Campus Safety provides crowd control assistance and is assisted by the City of Homewood Police Department when necessary.  Cheerleaders: Cheerleaders and mascots are welcomed.  All must follow SoCon rules.  Please contact Head Coach Allise Adkison at 205‐726‐2966.  Bands:  Visitor bands are welcomed and must follow SoCon rules.  Those wishing to bring bands should contact Jim Smisek at 205‐726‐4188.

Directions to Samford University, Seibert Stadium and Pete Hanna Center   

From Birmingham International Airport, Chattanooga, TN and points Northeast From I‐20/59 North: Exit onto I‐65 South toward Montgomery.  Continue approximately five miles and take Exit 255 to Lakeshore Drive.  Turn left onto Lakeshore Drive and continue  approximately two miles.  Turn left at the fourth traffic light into the school’s main gate.  Turn left after you enter the gate.  Once you reach a stop sign, Seibert Stadium is on your left.    

From Nashville, TN and points North From I‐65 South:  Take Exit 255 to Lakeshore Drive.  Turn left onto Lakeshore Drive and  continue approximately two miles.  Turn left at the fourth traffic light into the school's main gate.  Turn left after you enter the gate.  Once you reach a stop sign, Seibert Stadium is on your left.    

From Montgomery and points South From I‐65 North:  Take Exit 255 to Lakeshore Drive.  Turn right onto Lakeshore Drive and  continue approximately two miles.  Turn left at the fourth traffic light into the school’s main gate. Turn left after you enter the gate.  Once you reach a stop sign, Seibert Stadium is on your left.   

From Atlanta and points East From I‐20 West:  Exit onto I‐459 South toward Montgomery/Tuscaloosa.  Continue  approximately 10 miles and take the exit for Highway 280 North toward Mountain Brook.  Take Lakeshore Drive exit and turn left onto Lakeshore Drive.  Continue approximately three miles.  Turn right into the school’s main gate. Turn left after you enter the gate.  Once you reach a stop sign, Seibert Stadium in on your left.
