You remain responsible for your dog at all times.

Any dog thought to be dangerous to visitors, staff, volunteers, wildlife or other dogs will be refused entry or removed. If you see any visitors behaving irresponsibly with their dog, please let a member of staff know.

The suggested route takes you from the car park down into the SSSI woodland nature reserve. Follow the stepped path and bear right past the toad sculpture, through the bluebell wood and down over the boardwalk towards the tallest tree in Sussex. From here turn right, then take a left past the lake and the kingfisher sculpture. Look out for a flash of blue, you could spot a real kingfisher. Please keep dogs out of the water so they don’t disturb this fragile habitat. Make your way up past Woodland Cottage and the old Gamekeeper’s Kennels, keeping straight to bring you past the owl sculptures, then right at the cross paths back up the hill to the car park. (1.8 miles)

Need an easier route?

From the car park head down into the woodland nature reserve turning left at the cross paths. Following straight down past the owl sculptures to Woodland Cottage and the old Gamekeeper’s Kennels. Turning around here and going back the same way gives you a walk with no steps and only one steep hill. (1.45 miles)

Make sure you’re dressed for the weather as some of our paths are steep and can get muddy. Don’t forget to visit the tea garden, shop and plant centre before you leave.

(Normal admission applies for café and shop)
