    A covering letter from the Applicant. For children (under 18 years of age) who intend to travel to Australia, and whose stay in

    Australia will not be in the company of either or both of his or her parents or guardians -Form 1229 Consent Form to grant an Australian visa to a child under the age of 18 years.Parents and guardians should also submit certified copies of at least one signatureverifiable document such as a passport or drivers license.

    "(If applicable) evidence of enrolment at school, college or university If visiting relatives or friends, a letter of invitation from the host in Australia. Please

    include proof of legal status in Australia (passport and/ or visa copies). If relative or

    friend is paying for the visit, evidence that they have sufficient funds. Any other information or documentation to showing that Applicant has an incentive and

    authority to return to the home country. If Applicant is over 75 years of age, DIAC will request:

    o Educational qualificationso Current employment position and proposed role during the visit.o Details of previous contacts with Australian business people or organizations.o Documentation indicating that the Company concerned is an actively operating

    business (business registration certificate, annual report). Letter from Employer detailing the reasons for your visit. Letter of Invitation from the host organization in Australia. Itinerary with contact details for the business parties involved. If Applicant is over 70 years of age, DIAC will request:

    o Evidence of health insurance for entire period of stay.o Medical fitness certificate completed by a DIAC appointed panel doctor.

    Processing time varies according to workload and season mostly taking between 5 to 7working days. However, it is advisable to submit the visa application 2 - 3 weeks beforeintended date of travel. If previously, the Applicant has been refused a visa, has beenasked to provide additional information or is likely undergo a medical examination,decision on application may take longer.

    Though personal interview is seldom required, in the occasion that it is needed, themodalities will be intimidated before hand.

    Temporary Business Entry - Long Stay (1066)

    The long stay temporary business visa (subclass 457) covers both skilled specialists andbusiness executives. Visas may be granted for a period between 3 months and 4 years. Personswishing to apply under either of these two categories should lodge a subclass 457 visa using

    application form 1066 and visa fee, in the form of a bank draft payable to the "Australian HighCommission" in New Delhi and "Australian Consulate General Mumbai.

    Four recent passport size photographs of each Applicant. Evidence of Employer's approved nomination and sponsorship (letters from the

    Department of Immigration and Multicultural Affairs in Australia). Evidence of professional qualifications. Evidence of employment experience of last 5 years. Total period, if Applicant has been in

    service for less than that in the form of employment references, duty statements, salaryadvice, appointment and resignation letters, i-cards. Please provide any two of thementioned documents which confirm the period of employment with each employer.

    Birth certificate for each Applicant (Applicants who do not have a birth certificate maysubmit their Secondary or Higher School Certificate issued by the relevant StateEducation Board).

    Marriage certificate (if spouse is included in application OR applies subsequently) alongwith marriage photographs.

    For dependents, applying subsequently and not already included in the nomination, aletter of support from Applicant's employer clearly stating intention of the employer toextend its sponsorship obligations to the dependents.

    Original documents should be submitted together with photocopies and will be returnedwhen after processing.

    Processing time varies according to workload and season. It is advisable to submit theapplication 4-6 weeks before intended date of travel. Time taken finally depends on theneed for a medical examination, additional documentation or an interview.

    Non-Business Temporary Residence (147)

    Temporary Residence visas allow people to live or work in Australia for a limited time, forexample as entertainers, sports people, religious workers and those seeking further training in

    their occupational field. Most subclasses require sponsorship by an Australian organizationwhich must be approved by a DIMA Office in Australia.

    Visa fee should be in the form of a bank draft payable to the "Australian High Commission" inNew Delhi and "Australian Consulate General" Mumbai for the amount of INR 10300.

    Suggested documentation to submit along with visa application:

    Evidence of Employer's approved nomination (mandatory requirement), if applying as a MedicalPractitioner, Regional Worker or Occupational Trainee (unless training with the AustralianGovernment).

    For all other cases, if intended to stay in Australia for more than 3 months, either a formalnomination or a letter of Invitation from sponsor in Australia is required.

    Evidence of professional qualifications (if Applicant is a medical practitioner, pleaseinclude a copy of medical registration certificate).

    Evidence of employment experience of last 5 years. Total period, if Applicant has been inservice for less than that in the form of employment references, duty statements, salaryadvice, appointment and resignation letters, i-cards. Please provide any two of thementioned documents which confirm the period of employment with each employer.

    If applying for an entertainment or sport visa, evidence of cultural/sporting performances,including participation in national/international events along withtraining/photos/newspaper clippings should be enclosed.

    If applying for a religious worker visa, evidence of religious activities(qualifications/training/experience/photos/newspaper clippings).

    Birth certificate for each Applicant (Applicants who do not have a birth certificate maysubmit their Secondary or Higher School Certificate issued by the relevant StateEducation Board).

    Marriage certificate (if spouse is included in the application).

    Electronic Travel Authority System

    What is an ETA?

    The Electronic Travel Authority (ETC) is an electronically stored authority to travel to Australiafor a short stay.

    It removes the need for a visa label or stamp in a passport ETA will not bear any evidence in theApplicant's passport. The record of their authority to travel is stored electronically on a computersystem operated by Australian Immigration. Airlines and travel agents have access to this systemto confirm that they can enter Australia.

    It is available through participating airlines and travel agents. The traveler may arrange his/hervisit to Australia and at the same time apply for an ETA, simply by asking the agent. ETA's can

    Some applications must be lodged online or by mail to processing centres in Australia. Pleaserefer to the website:www.immi.gov.au.

    At an Australian Visa Application Centre (VFS Global)

    A service delivery partner has been appointed to collect visa applications on behalf of theAustralian High Commission Visa Office in New Delhi. Visa applications from all states in Indiaand Nepal can be lodged atVFS Global Servicevisa application centres.

    Applicants who have been granted a visa by a processing centre in Australia and advised tosubmit their passports for insertion of a visa label can also lodge their passports at the VFS visaapplication centres.

    VFS visa application centres are open from 8:00am to 4:00pm Monday to Friday. A VFSservices fee is charged for each application or passport submitted.

    Incomplete applications

    Under the Migration Act 1958 applications may be decided on the basis of available information.It assists the Visa Office to process applications more quickly if applications are as complete aspossible and all supporting documentation is provided at the time of lodgement.

    Fraud or misrepresentation

    Applicants should answer all questions fully and truthfully and disclose any information relevantto the question.

    Certification of documentation

    All personal documents such as Birth Certificates, Household Registration Book, CurriculumVitae, etc. must be certified by the relevant local authorities. Certified copies are copies

    authorised or stamped as being true copies of originals, by a person or agency recognised by thelaws of the persons home country.

    Translation of documentation

    Documents not in English should be accompanied by an English translation. In Australia,translators must be accredited by the National Accreditation Authority for Translators andInterpreters (NAATI). Evidence of relationship, such as personal letters, do not need to betranslated.

    Using a migration agent

    You are not required to use a migration agent. However, if you intend to use a migration agent,you are advised to use a registered migration agent. A list of registered migration agents isavailable from theMigration Agents Registration Authoritywebsite. You can authorise amigration agent to act on your behalf by completing and lodgingForm 956- Appointment ofMigration Agent, which can be downloaded free of charge from the DIAC website.

    The DIAC global service standards apply across all visa offices throughout DIACs servicedelivery network.

    Important information - child visa applications

    The visa office at the Australian High Commission in New Delhi has the responsibility to ensurethat the number of visas granted each financial year (1 July to 30 June) is in line with planninglevels set by the Australian Government. Based on current planning levels, applications for a

    Child visa lodged in New Delhi in 2011-12 will not be finalised until after 1 July2012Prospective parents who are considering returning from Australia to India for the birth of achild should be aware that visa applications will take approximately 14 months to finalise.

    Prospective parents are advised that children born in Australia to Australian Permanent Residentswill generally not need not need to apply for a Child visa, as they are eligible to apply forAustralian Citizenship.

    A service delivery partner has been appointed by DIAC to collect visa applications on behalf ofthe Visa Office in New Delhi. Visa applications in India & Nepal can be lodged at any VFSGlobalvisa application centres, Monday to Friday 0800 to 1600 hours.

    The Department of Immigration and Citizenship is bound by the Privacy Act 1988 not to disclose

    any information related to applications to any person other than the applicant, authorised

    Immigration Fraud - Warning!

    In the interests of providing fair and reasonable services to our clients, we wish to advise that itis an offence under Australian immigration law to provide false documents or make misleadingstatements in a visa application.

    In such cases, applications may be refused and visas may be cancelled. In addition, the personsinvolved may be barred by law from being granted a visa for one to three years. In some casesthey may be permanently excluded from Australia.

    To ensure the best possible client service, we strongly recommend that applicants obtaininformation and assistance regarding visa applications from either the Visa Office, our serviceprovider VFS or preferred migration agents.

    If you are involved with Immigration fraud in any way your ability to apply to travel to

    Australia will be affected. Ensure that all of the documentation that you provide with your application is genuine. You are strongly advised not to listen to people who tell you that they can arrange a visa for a

    sum of money.

    There are known scams operating over the Internet and in newspapers offering employment orstudy in Australia. These are commonly offered by businesses claiming to be migration agents.

    When dealing with any agent or business offering such services please ensure that you verify anyoffers of employment or study. You should also verify that the agent is applying lawfully to the Australian Government

    BEFORE you make any payments or arrangements. If in doubt, contact the Visa Office. Please ensure that you obtain an official receipt for any money you pay for a visa or visa-related services.

    While all efforts will be made to assist whenever possible, neither the Australian Governmentnor the Visa Office in New Delhi is responsible and cannot be held accountable for any loss

    related to such scams.

    Important notice for all visa applicants are requested to provide the following documents at thetime of application:

    Good quality photocopy of the biodata page of the current passport; and Good quality photocopy of any endorsement page or change of name page in the current

    passport; and For current Indian passports - good quality photocopy of the back page with information

    on parents' names and previous passports.

    This request applies to all categories but the photocopies do not need to be certified. Clients whodo not lodge the above documents may experience delays in the processing of their visaapplication.
