CONSTRUCTION OF TANKAGE(JACKING METHOD)

VSPL’s experience in designing and constructing tankages is an impressive panorama of Engineering

skills, organisational capabilities and a challenging spirit. Internal Floating Roof, Floating Roof, Cone

Roof, Dome Roof and Cryogenic Tanks, LPG Spheres, designed and constructed with all possible

variations of types and sizes VSPL’s has completed most of the projects on schedule, inspite of

deterrents, constraints and difficult situations and local problems. At project sites where, due to any

reason, space is a constraint for carrying out the Fabrication works.

VSPL has prefabricated the complete tanks at their factories and shipped to site, ready to be

erected. VSPL has erected several tanks using jacking up method resulting in higher quality

standards and improved safety levels because of far greater accessability for closer inspection.

With more than 1100 tanks to its credit, VSPL has built a total storage capacity of more than 3

million cubic metres till date.

The outer tank is constructed using Carbon Steel material and inner tank is constructed

using stainless steel material with 100% Radiography, Dome roof, Perlite and Foam glass

Double walled Cryogenic Tanks of capacity upto 5000 MT (largest size in India) were constructed by

VSPL for Storing Liquid Oxygen, Liquid Nitrogen and Liquid Argon for clients such as M/s. Inox Air

VSPL has regularly been undertaking heavy and complex erection of different types of equipments like

LPG bullets, vent stacks, columns, loading arms etc. These jobs are usually carried out at the most

critical location in the running plants. VSPL employs well experienced erection engineers and separate

skilled erection task force to execute such high precision erection objects. High importance is also given

to the aspect of safety for these projects.

VSPL works in all types of environments including aboveground storage tanks (AST), underground

storage tanks (UST), sumps, separators and pressurized vessels.

successful installation and subsequent operation of maintenance of their treatment facilities.

VSPL specializes in cleaning tanks that are utilized to store various product types including crude oil,

fuel oil, slop oil, hazardous chemicals, wastewater, asphalt, and other products. Whether it’s routine

maintenance to remove solids and sludge, decontamination measures, tank renovation or the demolition

and decommissioning of a tank. Trained personnel perform the storage tank cleaning.

Our personnels conduct a thorough hazard and risk assessment of the entire project site. This includes

developing a site-specific health & safety plan that identifies the hazards and controls to ensure the project

is completed safely and successfully. The Safety department ensures all personnel are given extensive

confined space entry and rescue training. Training certifications are provided prior to mobilization to the

project site. VSPL’s Safety head conducts a daily tailgate safety briefing and generates a confined space

entry permit prior to starting work each day to review the hazards and their mitigation.

Another major division of VSPL is the maintenance division which deals with the Maintenance/Repair

work of Tanks, Columns, Lowers, Pipelines and Pressure vessels etc. in Refineries & Petro-chemical

installation.

VSPL has successfully completed the maintenance / rehabilitation work of several tanks including

raising the height of tank pad foundation, straightening of tilted / damaged tanks by jacking up

method, conversion of single deck floating roof to double deck, partial / replacement of shell, bottom,

roof, structural etc. of various types of tanks and retesting before commissioning of the entire system.

VSPL also undertakes jobs of tank cleaning, sludge removal, oil mopping of tanks etc.

AUTOMIZATION OF TANK WELDING

• Automatic Saw Welding for Tank Construction.

• Horizontal Joints are being welded with Automatic Girth Welding Process. By this process we

are achiving up to 50% savings in time & Manpower.

• Similar process are followed in Bottom Welding & Roof Welding with Vertical Automatic Saw

Welding Machine in Rotar Base.

SAFETY ACHIEVEMENTS FOR CONSTRUCTION

• The HSE activities are executed by a dedicated HSE team consisting of HSE manager and

supervisors under the guidance of project manager.

• For each activities, there will be a written procedure.

• The HSE team follows a written HSE procedure, reporting system etc.

• The HSE team conducts regular tool box meetings, Safety drill, Safety awareness program etc.

• No work shall be allowed to be carried out without proper permit.

• HSE team will ensure that the workers, staff etc. wearing proper P.P.E and other safety

harness (as required) at the work site.

• HSE team will ensure that first- aid kits and other medical aids are always available at site.

• HSE team shall ensure that all the equipments, machineries, lifting tools and tackles etc. are

having proper certificates and colour codes as required.
