Virto Media Player Web Part for Microsoft SharePoint

Overview Virto Media Player Web Part is intended to play audio and video files from SharePoint libraries. The component plays:

audio files in .mp3 and .m4a formats;

and video files in .flv and .m4v formats.

All you need to adjust the component is install the web part and define source library where the data will be taken form. With Virto Media Player you can shuffle and replay files from SharePoint libraries, adjust player according to required size, use full screen mode and remove items from playlist.

System/Developer Requirements Operating System Microsoft Windows Server 2008, 2012

Server SharePoint Release 2013: - Microsoft Windows SharePoint Foundation 2013 or Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2013; - Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5;

SharePoint Release 2010: - Microsoft Windows SharePoint Foundation 2010 or Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2010; - Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5.

Note: This product is not compatible with SPS 2003 and WSS v2.

Browser Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 or higher.

Installation and Activation This section describes how to install, upgrade, uninstall, or contact Support for the Virto Media Player.

Installing Virto Media Player

Before you begin, you need to make sure you have access to the server and your account must have the appropriate administrative privileges to install applications. Virto Media Player for SharePoint setup program provides links to the various installation components for the calendar. To access Virto Media Player Setup program download Virto.MediaPlayer.X.X.zip file and unzip it. Run extracted Setup.exe file. The setup wizard window will appear.

Virto Media Player wizard performs a system check prior to the installation. All the system checks must be completed successfully in order to proceed with the installation. After the checks have completed, click “Next”.

Check “I accept the terms in the License Agreement” and click “Next”. Select the web application(s) where you want to install the product. Warning: You must be logged in to the SharePoint server with a Site Collection Administrator account to automatically activate this feature.

Then click “Next”.

Click “Close” to complete the installation.

Upgrading Virto Media Player

If you already use Virto Media Player and need to upgrade it to the latest version, download the.zip file from http://www.virtosoftware.com. Unzip the file and run setup.exe as it is described in the Installing Virto Media Player section. On the step 3 check the box “Upgrade” and click “Next”. Note: if you had activated the license while installing the previous Virto Media Player version, you do not need to activate it now.

Uninstalling Virto Media Player

1. Double click the Setup.exe extracted from downloaded Virto.MediaPlayer.X.X.zip file. 2. The program performs the system checks again. Once that has successfully completed, the

program prompts you to Repair or Remove the solution. Select Remove, and click “Next”.

Virto Media Player Settings and Usage

Adjustment When Virto Media Player is installed, go to required SharePoint site page and add web part through the site settings.

Select Media Player from the list of available web parts and add player to the SharePoint site page. Then open web part settings. Here you can define the source for Media Player, size preferences and other settings.

To define the source, choose a library where the data will be taken from.

Then choose size of Media Player (large, medium or small).

Fill the checkbox “Auto-hide the GUI in restored screen mode” to hide panel of tools in this mode.

Fill the check box “Auto-hide the GUI in full screen mode” to hide panel of tools in this mode.

In case you want to allow deleting items from playlist, fill the checkbox “Enable Remove Control”.

If you want to display links to media content, fill the checkbox “Enable links on media content”.

In case you don’t want to allow full size mode, fill the checkbox “Disable Full Size Control”.

In case you don’t want to allow change volume, fill the checkbox “Disable Volume Control”.

It is allowed to define size of Media Player. Just select one of three options – large, medium or small. For example, large size:

Playing Video and Audio Files Virto Media Player video files of .flv, .m4v formats. When the web part is adjusted, you can use it on your SharePoint site page.

You can use the following buttons to manage player. Use volume control to adjust volume.

Standard order buttons are used to navigate to required item of your playlist.

You can replay playlist if you use replay button.

Shuffle option of also available in the player.

Switch to full screen mode, if you need.

Use delete buttons to remove items from playlist.

Links to content are opposite items in playlist.

Playing audio looks similar though the upper control is hidden. Virto Media Player support audio files of .mp3 and .m4a types.
