Run the extra mile for street children! Running can improve your health. It can boost your endurance. It can make your bones and muscles stronger. But running can do so much more than that: It can give back smiles to street children. Through Globe’s Run4Home 2011, Virlanie Foundation Inc. will build a home for disadvantaged children. For 18 years, Virlanie cares for abandoned, neglected, abused, and orphaned children who were found living in the streets. Virlanie is unique in that the Foundation is not a center – it’s a home. It’s a home where the prevailing atmosphere is that of a family. Each Home has a father, mother, aunts and uncles who love and care for the children: nurturing and guiding them, fostering their development into responsible and self-reliant adults. Famous eventologist, writer and host, Tim Yap, has already pledged to run for street children. In his latest tweet, he said, “I’m gonna run for the first time because I choose to support these kids.” Like Tim Yap, make running matter as you dash to reach the finish line with the aim of helping out more street children—providing them with a place to stay, a home, and a family. On March 27, 2011 at Makati CBD, ‘run the extra mile’ for street children! Choose Virlanie as you register to run in Globe’s Run4Home 2011! SERIOUSLY SPORTY Virlanie does not just consider Globe’s Run4Home 2011 an event to increase awareness and raise funds, but also as an occasion to promote the physical well-being of everyone. As an integral part of its holistic program for its children, Virlanie, through its SIBUHI (Sining, Buhay, Hilom) Program, encourages the children to engage in sporting activities like taekwondo, baseball, futsal, basketball, and, of course, running. In fact, several Virlanie children and young adults have participated in a number of sports competitions. In the Rotary Youth Olympics held last March 21, 2010 at the Rizal Memorial Stadium, the children gained gold, silver and bronze medals in the 50M race, 100M relays and other competitions. The children also won gold medals in basketball, volleyball and soccer during the Bantay Bata Sports Festival in Norzagaray, Bulacan. In addition, they were also futsal (indoor soccer) champions during the Tuloy sa Don Bosco arts and sports competition. Since Globe Telecom declared Virlanie as a beneficiary of Run4Home, Virlanie has been campaigning for the support of its French donors and sponsors to support the children as they jon the Run4Home. Virlanie is serious about sports. Staff and volunteers have an annual sportsfest held before December. It is a time when all 140+ staff and volunteers gather into four teams to play games like basketball, volleyball, badminton, and relays. Last year’s champion were staff from the Temporary Group Homes and volunteers from various programs.

Virlanie Foundation, Inc. (VFI) is one of the largest non-sectarian child caring institutions in Metro Manila, philippines. The Foundation serves children found living in the streets as well as those referred by other institutions. Virlanie works to prevent the future physical and psychological abuse of children. It envisions empowered children with a brighter future. It cares for more than four hundred fifty (450+) children in its twelve (12) homes and eight hundred (800) children through its outreach programs.

Virlanie was founded in 1992 by Dominique Lemay, in partnership with Filipinos. Since that time, Virlanie has looked after more than 13,500 children in Metro Manila.

Virlanie bases its dozens of projects and support services on three main programs: residential, support, and outreach.

MISSION: To take care and look after the children in need of special protection.

GOAL: Virlanie Foundation, Inc. extends developmentalservices to children for them to become self-reliant, productive, independent individuals using the family atmosphere and reintegration to normal community life.

2007 - Opening of patricia Half Way Home and the Open Day Center. Certificate of satisfactory compliance from the Consuelo Foundation.

2009 - Dominique Lemay receives the people of the Year Award from people Asia Magazine.

2010 - Virlanie’s 18th anniversary.

proceeds of the Run4Home will go to Virlanie’s Elizabeth and Aime Homes. These homes welcome girls/teenagers in need of special protection and those with special needs.
