Hardware Problems

• Drives stick - sharp rap needed to start but eventually fail

• Capacitors leak and short circuits

• Power supplies fail - capacitors

• Monitors fail

Hardware Fixes

• Swap components from other Macs

• Clean circuit boards with alcohol or dishwasher

• Replace capacitors

• Use video adapter for VGA monitors

• Use modern technology replacements

• IDs set by jumpers or switch on drive

• Chained together in any order

• Need termination on both ends of chain

• Some drives are terminated internally or have a switch.
