STARRING IN YOUR OWN LIVES: Keys to becoming Successful by Nekisha Cyrus

(NEICY)

"There is no passion to be found playing small - in settling for a life that is less than the one that you are capable of living."

- Nelson Mandela

As the popular saying goes- ‘You only have one life to live, so why not live it to the fullest’. What’s the point of settling

for less or playing it small? Or what’s the difference between someone living the life that they dreamt about, in compari-

son to someone struggling to make ends meet? It all begins and ends with one word- ‘ACTIONS’. Now I know you’ve

probably heard this before but your actions is an important key to Success. I believe personally that Thoughts + Actions =

RESULTS, a simple but very effective formula, which just happens to be one of my personal mottos. The difference be-

tween someone extraordinary and someone ordinary are the actions taken towards achieving the desired results that they

want. We are all extraordinary beings, we all have the potential to dream BIG and become anything beyond our wildest

imagination. These desires however hardly ever occur by chance or luck; they require the necessary actions in that partic-

ular direction.

Once you begin to understand this simple formula the next step is ‘APPLICATION’. Let’s face it, knowing something is

one thing, but applying it is another. Many people say that knowledge is power, but I believe that ‘The application of

knowledge is POWER’. So what exactly is preventing you from getting the right knowledge and applying it to your life?

I know, a little thing called ‘FEAR’ right? We all fear the unknown, so we choose to stay where we are most comfortable

whether we are happy with our current circumstances or not. Fear prevents us from accepting change. We allow this to

happen because the majority of the time, we give negative thoughts permission to enter our minds making us believe that

we will fail, so why bother to pursue it? My question is why not, whether you fail or not you are still on the right path to-

wards fulfilling your goals. What else is the alternative- settling, being average? Failure should be considered the first at-

tempt at success.

We learn more in our failures than our successes. Failure teaches you what you may have done wrong and how to correct

it. Let’s face it- you probably would have never learnt certain lesson in your life if you did not fail at first. This can also

be applied to some of the greats of our time who failed their way to success- Walt Disney, Albert Einstein, Oprah, The

Beatles, Michael Jordan, Steve Jobs and the list goes on. If you learn from your defeats then you did not lose. So wel-

come the failures on your journey towards being successful; learn from them and continue to pursue your goals in life.

Now is the perfect time to get started, pursue your truest passions and become the STAR OF YOUR LIFE.

Hello J to all the Fashionistas out there…..my name is Nekisha Cyrus, known in the entertainment industry as

'NEICY' (Trinidadian Recording artiste/ Songwriter, Model, Actress and TV personality). I have been modeling

professionally for the past eight (8) years and fortunate enough to gain experience in various types of modeling-

pageants, runway, fashion, promotional and commercial, just to name a few. As much as I am very passionate

about modeling, over the years I have realized that I love styling a whole lot more. Don’t you just love the free-

dom to express yourself that fashion gives you? I surely do, this is why I pay great attention to my own fashion

sense. Surprisingly, this was noticed my friends and fans (who started calling me the ‘Singing Fashionista’ lol).

Soon after strangers began stopping me in the street to discuss fashion trends, I decided that Styling is something I

should definitely consider doing.

The idea for this article surfaced in a conversation with my very good friend and well known photographer- Mar-

lon Haynes- CEO of Adrenaline Photography. After our popular shoot back in 2013- ‘Para el amor de musica',

we then decided to continue merging our creativity and see what other successful idea we can come up with. Con-

sidering the fact that he was already doing his daily 'Model tip of the day'- which is a huge success. I decided to

start a weekly ‘Fashion101 with Neicy’ (this can also be seen on his page- https://www.facebook.com/

AdrenalinePhotography).

So are you ready to dive right in? Let’s go- Today I will just like to start off with a simple but very important tip.

Becoming a Fashionista should come naturally to everyone, because we are all different, so our sense of style

would be unique also.

KNOWLEDGE IS KEY- Bringing out the Fashionista in you is all about developing your own sense of style.

Becoming a trend setter instead of a trend follower- A Fashionista does not just come up with these stylish

outfits by chance; she is constantly taking inspiration from other style icons, reading up on fashion blogs,

going through magazines, watching designer shows and doing anything necessary to increase her fashion

knowledge. Knowledge is VERY important, so now is the time to get your act together, start researching

trends and create your own sense of what your fashion style should be. Unlimited Potential exists J

CONFIDENCE IS KEY- You should work on experimenting with your own styles instead of following what

everyone else is doing.

FASHION101 with Neicy: ‘BRINGING OUT THE FASHIONISTA IN YOU’

By Nekisha Cyrus (NEICY)

Page 11: Ville Ventures Online June Issue

Let’s face it most of the popular styles that we wear today started from someone who dared to be different.

Confidence is the number one accessory anyone can wear, especially a Fashionista. No one will appreci-

ate your outfit unless you appreciate it yourself. If you believe you look good, others will believe it to.

Walk tall, stand proud, and make sure everyone knows that you know you're fabulous. Remember, for a

Fashionista, every sidewalk is a runway.

And I always like to end

with a positive quote-

‘Dream big, work smart

and pursue your goals.

And always remember that

a goal without an action

plan is just a dream’- Love

Neicy J
