FROM PROPERTY MANAGEMENT
Greetings Residents. Happy Autumn, the cool weather feels so good. I have three contributions this month from our Residents that I would like to share. But first..PM (that stands for Property Management) Reminders:
Please bring all dogs away from the buildings or off the property to “do their busi-ness,” and always bring a bag to clean that business up no matter where you are please. It does not belong there and is part of caring for your companion.
IEH would like to remind Residents of the following House Rule:
WINDOWS: Only window drapes, mini-blinds, and vertical blinds are allowed as unit window coverings. TENANTS are prohibited from posting signs on windows.
In accordance with this Rule, we are asking Residents to remove any signs that or other materials in unit windows. This will give our buildings a clean and tidy appear-ance.
Lots of Social Events Going on: Residents had a Labor Day party, IEH held 4 Resi-dent meetings throughout our Campuses, IEH sponsored an art show and sale fund-raiser for the Blueberry Van and Thursday Meals, and for the finale event this fall…Please come see us at the Pumpkin Party with your hostess Denise Cote-Alwardt.
Now for a Trivia Question. Please stop me if you know the answer and we will publish the names of all Residents who told me the correct answer. Remember,
sharing or Googling is not allowed!
What is the Name of the largest Rodent in North America?
And now for our Resident contributions: Please keep them coming. If you cannot write it down for me then tell me a story and I will write it down. I can usually be found at Woodside 1 or you can reach me by phone. Thank-you
to those Residents who contributed this month.
Here are some favorite Quotes shared by a Resident:
“Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blun-ders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day. You shall begin it serenely and with too high a spirit to be encum-bered with your old nonsense.”
― Ralph Waldo Emerson
“You have the freedom to be yourself, your true self, here and now, and nothing can stand in your way".” ― Richard Bach, Jonathan Livingston Seagull
"Imagination is more important than knowledge, for knowledge is limited while
imagination embraces the entire world." -- Albert Einstein.

We also thank Island Grown for all the vegetables they drop off for residents to share. Thank-you; Thank you to Frank Borselle for donating the beautiful shiny new Memorial Board in the hallway of Woodside 1 by the stairs. If you haven’t seen it yet please take a look, you’ll be amazed by the beauty. The Board is for the Memorial Plaques honoring past residents that lived here and have since passed. Nancy Eddy is the first plaque on the new board, I’m sure she would be pleased. Thanks again to Frank. Thank you to Lila Fischer for presenting an informative talk on preventing falls. Thank you to the residents of Island Elderly Housing who came out on the 22nd to support the fundraiser or worked behind the scenes to get the word out. The money raised will go to support the Community Dinner and the Blueberry Van. It was a great time. Happy Fall!
FROM MAINTENANCE
Wow here it is already fall, what a hot and humid summer.
We recently had Comprehensive Needs Assessments done at several of our buildings, I
would like to thank everybody for their help. The purpose of having these done is provide
us and HUD with a guideline for the next 20 years of maintenance and repairs for the build-
ing, and also the estimated costs.
One other item to note is the feeding of birds; many of you have bird feeders right outside of
your apartment windows or door. Unfortunately this can lead to an easy food source for
many unwanted animals. It is written in our house rules that the feeding of wild life is pro-
hibited. We appreciate you help in trying to control the excessive amount of nuisance ani-
mals we have around our buildings
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact
me.
