Don’t forget! Daylight Saving Time starts at 2 a.m. Sunday, March 10th. That means you’ll “spring ahead” and move your clocks forward one hour. Please remember to check your smoke detectors and batteries!

Even though the cold weather is sticking around, your thoughts should turn to Spring and the maintenance of the plant beds around your home. If you do not want Duke’s Landscaping maintaining your shrubs, please contact the management office immediately so that your name can be given to Duke’s and you can have the pleasure of maintaining your own planting bed. Management needs to update the list of homeowners who currently are maintaining their own beds…please contact us immediately.

Spring Is Ahead!

Recently, the Board became aware of certain inappropriate activities occurring on site which were reported directly by homeowners to management, the Board and the police department. A meeting was subsequently held with the Bridgewater Police Department to discuss the situation at which time we were informed that the police had decided to initiate additional patrols and surveillance of the property to interdict such activities. The Board wanted you to be aware of the additional police presence, both uniformed and undercover on site.

Trash and RecyclingRecycling pick up dates for March 2013 are: Wednesdays, 3/13 & 3/27Recycling pick up dates for April 2013 are: Wednesdays, 4/10 & 4/24

It is important to remember all the trash and recycling disposal rules!

1) Remember cardboard does not go out with regular household trash. The trash company will charge for this type of trash and it will in turn be charged back to the individual unit owner(s). If a unit owner is unable to be identified, the trash company will charge the association for this type of trash, which in turn will cost all homeowners more money.

2) Townhome residents may not put their trash in the dumpsters. These dumpsters are designated for the condo residents only! This is a violation and if reported to management, you will be fined.

3) Townhome residents must keep all trash in a secured container.

At no time are bags of trash to be placed at the curb. Doing so only attracts unwanted vermin to our community. If you need another trash can, please purchase one. The State of NJ can and will fine the association a very heavy fine if bags are found without containers.

4) Your relatives and friends are not permitted to use the dumpsters at Vanderhaven for their personal trash disposal. All disposal means on site are exclusively for Vanderhaven residents.

5) The dumpsters are not to be used by any contractor you may be using. If your contractor uses the dumpsters, you will be fined.

6) Also, if you see a contractor putting trash in the dumpsters, please make a note of the contractor's name on the vehicle and any contact information that may be listed. Please notify management with this information immediately.

7) One final thing, if you place your trash or recycling can at the curb on a windy day, please be sure trash is not piled higher than the top of the can. This trash blows throughout the community and makes for a terrible mess. Please always secure lightweight trash, plastic, papers, etc. that you place in the cans.

If you are planning to lease your unit, please provide a copy of the lease to the Management office, as well as an updated homeowner/tenant questionnaire, as is required by the governing documents. The tenants will then receive a copy of the newsletter each month to keep them abreast of what is going on in the community. If you are in need of a copy of Vanderhaven’s rules and regulations to pass on to your tenant, please log on to www.vanderhavenfarm.com for a copy. Remind tenants they should provide the office with emergency contact information and the parking permit form, along with a copy of their vehicle registration to register their vehicles for a parking sticker.

Community-Wide Yard Sale

STATCOM – If you haven’t already done so, please fill out the STATCOM form to be kept informed of activities in the community. We also use the information to contact you in the event of an emergency. If you do not sign up and miss the information disseminated, the HOA will not be held liable. The form can be found on our website.

Modifications - Any modification to the exterior of a unit must be requested in writing to the Board of Trustees. Please contact the Management’s Office with your intention to perform any of the following modifications or replacements: storm door, front door, sliding glass door and/or windows, if you are installing a satellite dish, installing or modifying a deck or patio, front or rear light fixtures. Please do not proceed until you have a letter from the Association granting permission.

Parking - Each unit is assigned one parking space for their private use, and residents should use that space. Please do not park in someone else’s assigned space. The unmarked spaces are available on a first-come-basis. Residents must inform all visitors of our parking rules. Vehicles illegally parked can be towed at the owner’s expense. Any vehicle parked on the common property in violation of the rules and regulations adopted by the Board of Trustees, or any vehicle which has been parked on the common property for more than thirty days without having been moved or which is found to have either no registration or a registration which has been expired for more than thirty days, will be towed by a company engaged by the Association for the purpose at the owner’s expense. All vehicles parking on the Association’s property that are owned by residents and family members must apply for parking permits (see forms page on web site) and supply valid and current vehicle registration(s) for each car in the household. Failure to obtain and display parking permits on your rear view mirror could result in receiving a covenant violation and having the car towed at the owner’s expense.

Clubhouse - A reminder to all homeowners that the Association’s Clubhouse is available to rent during the year! If you have an upcoming event, consider renting the space for a fee of $100. A $200 fully refundable security deposit is also required and will be returned in full as long as there are no damages or any violations to the rules and regulations. A walkthrough of the Clubhouse can be arranged during business hours so you can ensure it is the right space for your event. Rentals are on a 1st come, 1st serve basis.

Can You Please Remember?

Did You Know?

The Vanderhaven Farm Book Club took off for the Winter, but we're back up and running and ready to start again. If you're interested, please join us for our first meeting of the Spring on Thursday, April 4 at 7pm in the Clubhouse. At this meeting, we'll be picking books to read for the coming months, determine our meeting days and times for the remainder of the year. No RSVP required/all are welcome. Come with your book ideas for the group to consider.

Saint Patr ick's Day has come to be associated with everything Irish: anything green and gold, shamrocks and luck. Most importantly, to those who celebrate its intended meaning, St. Patrick's Day is a traditional day for spiritual renewal and offering prayers for missionaries worldwide.

The eight-day festival of Passover is celebrated in the early spring, from the 15th through the 22nd of the Hebrew month of Nissan. It commemorates the emancipation of the Israelites from slavery in ancient Egypt. And, by following the rituals of Passover, they have the ability to relive and experience the true freedom that their ancestors gained.

On Palm Sunday Christians celebrate the triumphal entry of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem, the week before his death and resurrection. For many Christian churches, Palm Sunday, often referred to as "Passion Sunday," marks the beginning of Holy Week, which concludes on Easter Sunday. Good Friday is observed on the Friday before Easter Sunday. On this day Christians commemorate the passion, or suffering, and death on the cross of Jesus Christ.
