RESOLUTION WAIVING THE FORMAL COMPETITIVE BIDDING PROCESS FOR OFFICE FURNITURE, AWARDING A CONTRACT FOR PURCHASE OF OFFICE FURNITURE TO ANDERSEN OFFICE INTERIORS, ADDISON, ILLINOIS, AND

AWARDING A CONTRACT FOR FURNITURE INSTALLATION TO CONTRACT INSTALLATIONS, MUNDELEIN, ILLINOIS

WHEREAS, 65 ILCS 5/8-9-1 provides that a contract in which the expense to be

incurred by a municipality exceeds $20,000.00 may be entered into by the proper municipal

officers without advertising for bids if authorized by a vote of two-thirds (2/3) of all trustees then

holding office; and

WHEREAS, Section 3.04.020 of the Mundelein Municipal Code provides that a contract

for which the expense to be incurred by the Village exceeds $20,000.00 may be entered into by

proper Village officials without advertising for bids if authorized by a vote of two-thirds (2/3) of

all trustees then holding office; and

WHEREAS, the Village Board entered into a professional services agreement with

Wight Architect to evaluate furniture options for the new Village Hall and prepare a furniture

contract package for final pricing by furniture vendors; and

WHEREAS, the following commercial furniture vendors submitted proposals:

Henricksen Office Interiors – Naperville, IL PROPOSAL - $245,513 Andersen Office Interiors – Addison, IL PROPOSAL - $233,667

Interior Investments – Lincolnshire, IL PROPOSAL - $266,379 and;

WHEREAS, the Village staff has carefully evaluated the proposals for the compliance

with the specifications, completions and comparability; and

WHEREAS, the Village Staff recommends the furniture contract for the new Village

Hall be awarded to Andersen Office Interiors of Addison, Illinois; and

WHEREAS, Contract Installations, Mundelein, Illinois submitted a proposal for the

installation and assembly of the furniture in the amount of $33,964.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD

OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF MUNDELEIN, COUNTY OF LAKE, STATE OF

ILLINOIS as follows:

SECTION 1. The formal bidding process provided in 65 ILCS 5/8-9-1 is hereby waived.

SECTION 2. The formal competitive bidding process provided in Section 3.04.020 of

the Mundelein Municipal Code is hereby waived.

SECTION 3. The proposal submitted by Andersen Office Interiors of Addison, Illinois

for furniture for the Village Hall, attached hereto as Exhibit A, is hereby accepted and the

Village Administrator is authorized to execute a contract with Andersrn Office Interiors in the

amount of $233,667.

SECTION 4. The proposal submitted by Contract Installation of Mundelein, Illinois for

furniture installation, attached hereto as Exhibit B, is hereby accepted and the Village

Administrator is authorized to execute a contract with Contract Installation of Mundelein, Illinois

in the amount of $33,964.

ADOPTED this 7th day of April 2014 by a roll call vote.
