In this gentle documentary Michael Heath trans- ports us to the pre WWI Irish fishing village of Bunmahon where the New Zealand artist painted during the summers of 1914 and 1915 capturing, with astonishing clarity, the beauty of the Irish land and seascapes, its tumble-down cottages, and the poor peasant community, both young and old. A tribute to the woman recognised as one of our greatest modern painters Admission (Adult): €3.00 Admission (Child): Free with accompanying adult A fun fieldtrip with Nora Foley and Tina Keating to discover the minerals, fossils and volcanic structures of the Copper Coast starting in the Geological Garden, moving on to Stage Cove and around the rock to the Pipes of Baidbh Then back to the CCG centre where the group can examine similar minerals and fossils to the ones found on the Copper Coast, take fossil casts and make your own fossil models Fee: €5.00 Volcanoes, Minerals and Fossils Sunday 31st. Village By The Sea A Heritage Week Event Copper Coast Centre 27th August 7.30pm Special viewing of the film “Village by the Sea” and Exhibition of Paint-ings revealing the beauty of Edith Collier’s work inspired by the magical land of Southern Ireland.

Houses for the Dead

Exploring the 5000 year old "Dolmens"

of east county Waterford

Copper Coast Geopark Centre

Wednesday 30th. July 2014, 8.00pm

The lecture will look at the various types of "dolmens" (megalithic tombs) in the area and discuss their use and the people who built them. Dr Elizabeth Shee Twohig has been visiting these sites for over fifty years; she is a former lecturer in the Department of Archaeolgy at UCC and has written extensively on Irish and European megalithic tombs and on other aspects of Irish Archaeology.

Admission €5.00 refreshments served

Our annual Flower Show and Market will be held on in the Copper Coast Centre.

Doors will be open 2 - 5 pm both days.

This introduction to camping will suit the beginner and novice camper best but more experienced campers are welcome to share their wisdom. Dinner and breakfast will be cooked on site and if brave enough campers can sleep in their newly acquired premises or go for the more traditional tent. Evening time will consist of a warm enjoyable camp-fire so musicians, storytellers and poets welcomed.

Children must be accompanied by an adult and not be easily spooked!

Ballyscanlon Bushcraft

Saturday 16th.August

Meet: Church Carpark 12.30pm

You are invited to spend an overnight camping in the picturesque woodlands of Ballyscanlon, located just outside Fenor Vilage.

We will trek from the church carpark after materials and equipment check to the nearby woods (approx 1 mile) Here we will set up camp and spend the day practising Backwoods and survival skills such as firelighting, shelter building and cooking methods.

Kite Aerial Photography and Geophysical Survey at the

medieval site of Dunhill Castle with Kevin Barton, Landscape & Geophysical Services, Claremorris, Co Mayo & Tina Keating, Copper Coast Geopark. A contribution to the Archaeology Landscapes Europe Project (www.arcland.eu) Session will start on Sunday morning. Survey will then take place over 2 days, on-site of the old the medieval village where we hope to find evidence of ancient structures. Days broken up into 4 half day (3 hour) sessions with one hour lunch. Participants can book from one to all four sessions.

Road Bowling A Heritage Week Event Sunday 24th & 31st. August Meet Fenor Carpark, Times:11.30am-1.30pm,

Come try out the traditional sport of roadbowling for heritage week, play along the country roads of Fenor village, Co Waterford with the local club who will demonstrate and guide you in the technique of "BULLETS". All abilities are facilitated and welcome, practice makes perfect in this sport so join us and try out a day with a difference. Wear runners and comfortable clothing (no shorts or 3/4 lengths if possible)
