If you miss your chance to drop your form off at any of those times, simply stop by your front desk and place it in the sealed boxes. There’s plenty of seating and space available for you to relax with all your friends. •Still interested in purchasing a PCV t-shirt? Consider study abroad or exchange programs with other universities. Junior year is a common year of study abroad because students are established in the school environments but aren’t quite crunching down for graduation. Talk to you Academic Advisor to see when you might be
able to work this into your academic plan of study.

THEME WEEK: Open your house! In honor of Open House weekend (April 16th & 17th), we’re encouraging all residents to open their doors and get out into their community to reconnect with old friends, make some new acquaintances, and enjoy the open environment you live in. Get out and meet new people by attending a program, playing volleyball or water basketball, foosball, or signing out a board game from the front desk. Many of you may be moving off-campus next year and may not be living near such a large group of your peers with so many amenities. Take advantage of it while you can! Open your door, have a floor progressive dinner or movie night, grill outside in the courtyards and be social!
2. Be Targeted - Identify your network. Start by listing everyone you know who are potential prospects: family members, friends, faculty, neighbors, classmates, alumni, bosses, co-workers, Facebook friends and community associates. Attend meetings of organizations in your field of interest and get involved.3. Be Professional - Ask your networking prospects for advice, not for a job. Your networking meetings should be a source of career information, advice and contacts. 4. Be Patient – Be prepared for a slow down after you get started. Stay politely persistent with your leads and build momentum. 5. Be Focused on Quality, Not Quantity - In a large group setting, circulate and meet people, but don’t try to talk to everyone. If you are at a reception, wear a nametag and collect or exchange business cards so you can follow-up.6. Be Referral-Centered – The person you are networking with may not have a job opening, but he or she may know someone who is hiring. 7. Be Proactive –Keep a list of your contacts and update it frequently with the names of any leads given to you. Send a thank-you note or email if appropriate.8. Be Dedicated to Networking - Stay in touch with contacts and make it part of your long-term career plan.-Tom Denham
THIS WEEK’S
Tips for
Success
Learn about Networking!Networking continues to be the #1 job search strategy. A network is an interconnected group of supporters who serve as resources for your job search. Some folks hesitate to network because they feel awkward asking for help. Though you might feel nervous when approaching a potential contact, networking is a skill that develops with practice, so don’t give up. Most people love to talk about their jobs and are willing to give realistic and free advice.1. Be Prepared - Your purpose is to get to know people who can provide information regarding careers and leads. Second, know yourself, your education, experience and skills. Your networking meeting should include the following elements: introduction, self-overview, Q&A, obtaining referrals and closing.
