VOLLEYBALL The Vikings return home to close out the regular sea-son with a three-match homestand, beginning with a pair of matches this weekend. CSU will host Wright State at 7:00 p.m. on Friday (Nov. 2) and Valparaiso at 4:00 p.m. on Sat-urday (Nov. 3). Saturday’s contest against the Crusaders will serve as Senior Day, as the Vikings will honor will the gradu-ating class of 2012. CSU enters the week on an eight-match win streak, af-ter defeating UIC and Loyola with matching 3-1 victories last weekend. With the victory over Loyola, CSU is beginning to pull away from the other eight teams in the league standings, owning a 10-1 record, with Valparaiso in second place (7-3). Kara Koch led the Viking offense with 35 kills last weekend, becoming the first league player to reach 400 kills this season.

Wrestling Opens Season on Saturday The wrestling team will finally be on the mat this weekend to start the regular season as they head to the state of Michigan for the Eastern Michigan Open on Saturday (Nov. 3). The open competition will begin at 10:00 a.m. The Vikings will be looking to improve on last season with a young roster that includes 17 returnees to go along with 10 freshmen. Six of those returnees wrestled at the League Championships last season. Seniors Corey Carlo (165 pounds) and Brian Roddy (184 pounds) were na-tionally recognized in the Wrestling USA Magazine preseason edition as “top chal-lengers” in their respective weight classes.

WOMEN’S SOCCER CSU’s season came to an end with a 5-0 setback at Milwaukee on Friday (Oct. 26). The Vikings finished the sea-son with a 6-11 overall record and a 2-5 mark in the Horizon League. Freshman Vickie Havas finished her first season leading the team in goals (5), assists (5) and points (15). She ranked second in the Horizon League in all three categories. Last weekend, CSU competed in the Horizon League Championship, with five runners recording personal-best times. This group was led by Tori Holt who finished in a time of 19:13, followed by Maddie Korak (20:34), Angela Kirila (20:56), Ashley Berlin (21:14) and Megan O’Keefe (21:36).
