VII. Mediterranean Congress of Climatization Istanbul, 3-4 October, 2013 Air conditioning is one of the leading sectors for energy consumption today. As the standard of living rises and demand for comfort increases, air conditioning is becoming indispensable. Now, it has become ever more important to find a sustainable energy solution for our consumption needs going forward. Achieving sustainable energy consumption is one of the main goals of developed societies around the world. Likewise, Net-Zero Energy Building research is increasingly popular and highly supported by many governments. This only contributes further to the importance of energy consumption, especially as it relates to air conditioning. As air conditioning is so vital for the Mediterranean climate, principal air conditioning associations that share the regional challenges and are regulated by similar European laws have been coming together for the Mediterranean Congress of Air Conditioning (CLIMAMED), since 2004. CLIMAMED provides a forum to exchange knowledge and experience for designers, manufacturers, contractors, and end-users alike. Hosted by TTMD (Turkey), with co-organizers AICARR (Italy), AICVF (France), APIRAC (Portugal), and ATECYR (Spain), CLIMAMED’13 will be held in Istanbul. As the 19th century French writer and politician Alphonse de Lamartine put it, “if one had but a single glance to give the world, one should gaze on Istanbul.” The legendary capital of the Byzantine, Roman, and Ottoman Empires and the only city to connect two continents, Istanbul is among the world’s largest cosmopolitan centers. A beautiful city with a mild Mediterranean climate, it will provide the ideal backdrop for the CLIMAMED attendees. Cafer Unlu, Gürkan Arı, President of CLIMAMED’13 President of TTMD WELCOME

Air conditioning is one of the leading sectors for energy consumption today. As the standard of living rises and demand for comfort increases, air conditioning is becoming indispensable. Now, it has become ever more important to find a sustainable energy solution for our consumption needs going forward. Achieving sustainable energy consumption is one of the main goals of developed societies around the world. As air conditioning is so vital for the Mediterranean climate, principal air conditioning associations that share the regional challenges and are regulated by similar European laws have been coming together for the Mediterranean Congress of Air Conditioning (CLIMAMED), since 2004. CLIMAMED provides a

forum to exchange knowledge and experience for designers, manufacturers, contractors, and end-users alike.
