VIGILANCE AWARENESS WEEK 2015

AWARD CEREMONY

BIS Head Quarters, 02 November 2015

Bureau of Indian Standards observed Vigilance Awareness Week from

26th October to 31st October 2015. Observance of the Week at BIS Head

Quarters commenced with the a pledge administered to all the officers and staff

of BIS HQrs on 26th October 2015 by Smt. Alka Panda, Director General, BIS.

Essay writing, slogan writing and quiz competitions were organized by Vigilance

Department during the Week. These competitions witnessed enthusiastic

participation of officers and employees from BIS Head Quarters as well as Central

Region Office and the Training Institute of BIS. The Award Ceremony of the

Week was held on 02nd November 2015 at BIS HQrs, Manak Bhawan, New Delhi.

Shri Alok Sharma, Chief Vigilance Officer, BIS addressed the senior officers of

BIS on the subject of vigilance with special emphasis on “Preventive Vigilance as a tool of Good Governance” which was the theme of the Week (The transcript of

Address of CVO, BIS). On this occasion, Smt. Alka Panda, Director General, BIS

addressed the gathering as Chief Guest and distributed awards to winners of

various competitions organized during the Week. Smt. Alka Panda, DG, BIS in her

address emphasized on implementation of preventive measures to curb corruption

and opined that this would result in increased efficiency, transparency,

accountability and adherence to the rule of law in governance which is vital for

economic development of the country. Shri C. K. Maheshwari, Deputy Director

General (Certification), BIS also spoke on the occasion. Shri A. Mohd. Ismail,

Vigilance Officer, Vigilance Department welcomed the guests. Shri Chinmay

Dwivedi, Vigilance Officer, Vigilance Department conducted the Ceremony and

proposed vote of thanks.
