This is the last required section of the internship portfolio. Each student must include at least one example of a paper or project from their past coursework that they would like to use to

showcase their skills. This paper should be something that the student feels is the best representation of what they have learned, includes some of their best research, and is something

that they are proud of. Sample suggestions for each option can be found on below, as well as examples posted on the canvas module under “example work sample”.

Please be sure to submit the second half (weeks 6-10) of your Internship Journal Assignment on Canvas by 11:59pm on the Tuesday of Finals Week! The Internship Journal

instructions, questions and rubric can be found on pages 27-31 in this manual.

OPTIONAL: Professional Development Opportunities

Each student may complete up to 40 additional hours through professional development opportunities. If you are splitting the internship over two terms, you may complete 40 hours per term of professional development.

Professional development can take whatever form you find most useful. Options include but are not limited to:’

Online trainings Certifications Conferences Workshops Job shadowing Informational Interviews Service Learning

Professional development is purposefully open-ended so that each individual can do what is most useful for their particular long-term goals.

If you need to complete professional development hours, but do not know what to do, you can choose a public health related community site and perform hours of volunteer work/service learning.
