Forgive? Okay, but how many times? 7 Times? No, Seventy times that. You gotta be kidding me! That’d be quite a run!        Well, you can be sure that I’ll be gone come four ninety-one 

Clicker in hand; Log each new at-tack, but now you’re saying “Love does not keep track!” You gotta be kidding me! That does NOT make sense! How will I know when I have made it to that last offense?  Bridge Then another line that does not make me feel better You taught us to say “forgive me as I           do my         debtors.”  Chorus Four Ninety-One wouldn’t be enough for me To give or receive; so I am relieved  It’s closer to infinity

Eddie moved in to a neighborhood where everyone had a gun But Eddie had struggled with depression so he knew he shouldn’t own one (F# bend to G) It's not like this was a ghetto. In fact it was in the woods Full of Bobcats, Bears and Coyote’s.  To encounter them was not good  Bridge Unless you were armed, so he went Walmart And got himself a Crossman 10 pump BB gun Watcha gonna do with that      son?!

 Jesus asked the twelve 2 questions One’s they’d surely asked themselves a thousand times One of them was easy; requiring nothing more Than parroting what they had heard from others  Then the most important question The answer in that culture would have sentenced them to death But Peter answered rightly; what the Spirit had revealed And since that time revealed to every brother and sister….       

Chorus Who others say Jesus is  Can have an influence on |you But who do you say he is? Peter said “the Son of God” and Jesus said it’s true What are who going to do with that?  Verse    Jesus said to his disciples  “I am going to prepare a place for you” And I will come back for you; to take you to myself And you know the way to where I’m going. 

Thomas said “where are you going? If we don’t know, Lord, how can you say we know the way? Jesus answered “I am       the way, the truth, the life I’m the only way unto the Father Does that bother you? 

Well what are you going to do with that?

“E” man stepped to the plate with a bat in his hand Everyone knew that he worked real hard and he was a good man But his opponent on that mound of dirt had studied his every move And you could know that he knew real well what he could and he couldn’t do So he wound up and threw that change on the inner half of the plate  “E” did what he never could, yah he made himself wait  Then he hit it out!  Verse II  “E” man’s next 2 at bats really made the crowds night Singled in a run, then a grounds rule double as he bounced one out in right Then he saw a way to make it so his name would be in the book! He’d deserved it if he made it to third, but he knew he’d really have to cook! So he reared back, and hit that ball, right down the foul line And he ran faster than he ever had and he made it there in time…  And the crowd went wild!  Bridge Till the Official Scorer that no one sees  Called it a double with an error.  “E” had done everything that he Could’ve done. One time …Yah I wish it were once More than likely between 2 and 5  A brother in |Christ Listening to my songs Said these words that would eat me alive 

Bridge 1  “I thought you wrote Christian music… But I don’t recognize your metaphors As being for the Lord” 

 Some other friends of mine listening to the same  On the opposite side they would poke  They said my metaphors were  Quite obvious and lame One said “preachy” and one said “a joke”  Bridge 2 Jesus you had similar issues With the religious people of your day And I know what you’d say  Chorus For him who has ears to hear It’ll be made clear even if it takes an explanation  But he who already “knows” Or in his heart is convinced so,        neither seeks nor will he find your REVELATION. 

This plank Sticking out of my eye It is making it harder to see And if I am frank All these things I despise They are no less embedded in me (spoken:when I say things like…)  Bridge II  “I got nothing from that message! Man I don’t even feel like I’ve been fed!” Then I remember what you said!  (to chorus 1)

Yes I saw what they did And I believe it was wrong I can hear all the pain in the plaintive wail coming from your room  Just be careful my friend I see what you have in mind If you think what they did made them so wrong should you respond in kind 

But you say “they started it!  Don’t I have the right to pay back what they’ve earned?!”  Chorus Yes it says “you reep what you sow” But you ought to know  It’s not up to you to mete it out!  God says “it’s mine to avenge    so don’t seek revenge… But rather seek Me to have the power to… Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you”  VERSE   3  So when they slap you again Offer the other cheek  In the process your face gets a little stung but their arms get weak! 

And we’ll see whose face is red when their attack receives no reply!  Bridge    He understands all the anger you feel when you are disrespected He never sinned yet was tortured and killed by the ones who despised and rejected Him Yet he prayed for their forgiveness (to chorus: starts out drums, bass and vocals for the first 2 lines)

CHORUS   I -II  Sitcom plot A sermon illustration,    My life has been a cautionary tail of how not to end up in my situation  But Father, Son, and Holy Spirit if it's bringing you glory Keep adding chapters to my story.                         Another one that bears repeating Driving down the mountain for a meeting I ran out of gas! Even though it registered I still had some left  By the time a brother brought some It was really late so I just went home When suddenly the brakes... Went right to the floor right there, instead of right by that cliff!

I am a coin balancing on its edge. Any little thing can knock me over revealing one of two sides Once side of me is little more than a big head The other side; a tail that’s tucked with head down. The name of this coin is pride  Chorus I And whatever you do, you better not bump the table  or I might flip on you Cause it’s true I’m a little unstable So count the cost.  When this coin gets tossed There aint no winning side  Verse ii  My Carpenter surely you’ve a little vise Something that’ll clamp on to the table and hold me standing upright So I can stand whenever I get upset I know many tools you have are mine now so teach me how to use them right.  Chorus II Cuz how I am now they better not bump the table Or I might flip on them As you know I’m a little unstable You paid the cost for this coin once lost So I’m on the winning side  Bridge This agitated pride flashes ANGER on each side One turned outward one turned in; frequently leading to sin And I know you said that   man’s anger does not lead to the righteous acts That you require…   Chorus III Before another one comes and dares to bump the table And I go flip on them Brace me up cuz I know that you’re able You paid the cost for this coin once lost So I’m on the winning side

 Lord you know I love you dearly    And know you have a plan      I confess these bones grow weary When comes your consolation  Lord I sense your Spirit moving  A stirring within mine  Urgency and expectation Could it be…..its time?!  Entering into the outer courts Not quite certain what I’m searching for but I Know it’s here!       Could it be that young family there? I don’t think it’s the father but could it be…?  YES!  It is the child!  Chorus Now your servant may depart in peace   For my eyes have seen your salvation that you prepared in the sight of all nations A light to the gentiles and the glory of Israel   Verse 2 In the name of    God our Father   Blessings I bestow   But there are some things, young Mary He says you need to know-oo-oh  He will cause the fall and rising  Of many in this land  They will speak against him for he will expose to all their dark hearts and their true intentions    One more things I know you must be told  That a sword will pierce your very soul but take courage for  I have also heard from the Lord I would see the Messiah before     I die. Based on the Book of the Prophet Hagai Inspired by a sermon by and dedicated to Pastor Mike Ambrose 

Zerubbabel son of Shialtial Was Governor of Judah shortly after the exile Jehozadak’s son Joshua Was high priest at the time what the word came through Hagai  Bridge 1  “You sow you're seed but harvest little. You wear your warm clothes but are always cold. You eat and drink but are never filled You work so hard and you put your wages in a purse with holes And you wonder why  Chorus I Give careful thought to your ways Do you give God his right place? Or do you live in comfort while his temple lies in ruin?   Verse II The remnant heard what he had to say They knew the Father sent him and in fear they would obey Zerubbabel and Joshua The rulers of the remnant labored right there beside them.  Bridge II Those who saw the former temple Thought, “this one; it’ll surely pale.” Still, they found their strength was ample Stirred by God, and his very presence, they knew they’d not fail The Lord on High  Chorus II They gave careful thought to their ways And they gave God his right place They could not live in comfort while his temple lay in ruin!

 Bridge III And the Lord told Zerubbabel      He would shake the earths foundations And this house will be filled with the glory  Of The Desired of All Nations   Chorus III   So give careful thought to your ways Will you give God his right place? Or will you live in comfort while the Church lies in ruin?

What Is Better © 2018 Rob Carter 

I wish I’d known he was coming  I  would’ve had everything just so,  but I didn’t kno-ow  And look at my sister just sitting there drinking him in it is really getting under my skin  Doesn’t she know that I want to be there too!?  But there’s too much to    do!  Usually he is so aware of |everything going on yet he has said | nothing to her Lord, don’t you care that my sister has | left me to do all the preparations all by myself?  Tell her to help!  Now he is looking at me with compassion | in his eyes...And to my| surprise says  Chorus Martha, Martha you are so worried about so many things Just one is needed Mary has chosen what is better And it will not be taken away from her  Verse All of us have a little Martha |living is us and then some of us have |a little more! Trying to make everything just so |hoping that some of our efforts just might| impress the Lord  And| do we look down on the ones that we think don't do As much as we do   Keep it in mind that all our efforts | to attain righteousness are regarded |as filthy rags! Only by grace can we receive what | Jesus has already done for us that | no one may brag And when we are busy like this we ignore that it's his will For us to be still and know that He's the kind of God to hold us in his arms and say  (to chorus)
