1. Pull the rubber door molding away from door openings to reveal the edges of the plastic post covers.

2. Gently pull the upper seatbelt bolt cover loose.

7. Using an 8mm nut driver, remove the two screws retaining the speaker mounting apparatus. Fig. 33

8. Using a panel removal tool gently pry the speaker mounting apparatus away from the metal at the points where the 8mm screws were removed. Fig. 34

9. Pull the plastic speaker wire retainer loose from the side of the speaker and disconnect speaker wiring. Fig. 35

10. On a workbench, remove the speaker from the speaker mounting apparatus and install the upgrade speaker. Note that one of the three tabs is longer than the other two and the upgrade speaker will only correctly fit into the mounting apparatus one way. Replace screws and tighten. Fig. 36

11. Reinstall all previously removed parts in reverse order.12. Retighten seatbelt bolts to 40 ft.lbs.13. Repeat for other side of vehicle.

1. Fold rear seat backs into the down position.2. To remove the rear package tray, first remove two plastic retainers securing the

package tray along the top of the trunk opening and one on each side securing the rear side panels. Fig. 121

3. Remove the package tray by pulling the rear side panels out enough to slide the package tray down to reveal the rear speakers. Fig. 122

24.Gently pull out on the panel just below the steering column, rotate down and remove. Fig. 1

25.Remove the two 7mm screws securing the plastic panel below the steering column indicated by the arrow in Fig. 2 , and the one 7mm screw near the kick panel. Also, remove the two 10mm bolts securing the metal plate and remove plate.

26.Remove the dash end panel by prying loose with a panel removal tool. Fig. 327.Install the amp into position by lining up the holes in the amp bracket with the two

holes for the bolts that retained the metal plate. Fig. 4

28.Install the supplied 10mm bolt into the bottom hole and leave loose. Fig. 529.Reinstall the metal plate over the top of the amp bracket and replace the factory

bolts and tighten.30.Tighten the bottom bolt.

Wire Harness Installation

31.Find the rubber grommet in the top driver’s side of the fire wall underneath the hood and remove it. Fig. 6

32.Using a razor knife make a small cut in the center of the grommet. Pass the end of the wire with the small terminal on the end through the grommet and pull the grommet up to the point where the plastic sheathing starts. Fig. 7

33.Run the wire through the grommet hole in the fire wall and reinstall the grommet.34.Run the wire along the top of the fire wall toward the battery and secure with wire

ties.

35.Remove the top of the fuse cover and using a 13mm socket and ratchet loosen and remove the nut on the positive battery accessory lug. Fig. 8

36.Connect the ring terminal of the power harness to the lug and retighten the nut. 37.Using a panel removal tool remove the four plastic retainers (three in front door

opening and one in rear door opening) securing the driver’s side sill plate and B pillar post cover. Fig. 9

38.Gently pull the kick panel/sill plate toward the brake pedal to release the fasteners securing it.






39.Connect the ten pin connector of the harness to the amplifier. Slide the red locking tab over to prevent the connector from accidentally coming disconnected.

40.Route the harness along the bottom of the front and rear door jam and toward the back seat.

NOTE: It’s important to follow the correct subwoofer input wire connection for your specific application to ensure proper function and optimum

performance of the subwoofer system.

Subwoofer Input Connection for Base Audio

41.Locate the left front lower dash speaker wires on the back of the plastic speaker housing. The wire colors are gray with a yellow stripe and gray with a purple stripe. Fig. 9

42.Install one of the self stripping t-tap connectors on to each wire. Lay the wire in the open channel, fold the connector body over and squeeze with a pair of pliers until connector snaps shut. Fig. 10

Tip: Once these connections have been made you might want to test the wire with an inexpensive test-tone generator to verify you have the right wires.

43.Connect the subwoofer harness input wires to the t-tap connectors. The green wire (positive) of the harness connects to the t-tap connector on the gray wire with the yellow stripe in the vehicle. The brown wire (negative) of the harness connects to the t-tap connector on the gray wire with the purple stripe in the vehicle.

Subwoofer Input Connection for Base Audio with optional 77KCK053 (4.1 Channel Amp) Installed

44.Connect the green wire of the of the subwoofer harness to the green wire of the 4.1 amplifier harness. Connect the brown wire of the subwoofer harness to the brown wire of the 4.1 amplifier harness.

Subwoofer Input Connection for Premium Audio vehicles with optional 77KCK056 (8 Channel Amp) Installed

45.Locate the 16 pin connector on the amplifier behind the left front speaker housing. Find the green/brown stripe wire and the gray/brown strip wire in this connector and install one of the self stripping t-tap connectors on to each wire. Lay the wire in the open channel, fold the connector body over and squeeze with a pair of pliers until connector snaps shut. Fig. 10

46.Connect the green wire of the subwoofer harness to the gray/brown strip wire. Connect the brown wire of the subwoofer harness to the green/brown stripe wire.

47.Install the supplied two pin connector by inserting the terminal on the end of the power wire into the back of the connector until it clicks and locks. Fig. 11

50.Run the wire harness along the floor under the rear seats to approximately the middle of the vehicle and pull the end of the harness under the seat to the cargo area. Fig. 13

51.Set the subwoofer in place and connect the wire harness.52.Rotate the rear seat back until it is nearly vertical. While holding the seat back with

one hand, slide the enclosure back until the hooks on the bracket are centered under the anchor points at the bottom of the seat. Slowly rotate the seat back toward the rear of the vehicle until it locks into place. Fig. 14






53.The installation is complete and the subwoofer enclosure is easily removable if necessary by reversing steps 23 and 24.

54.Reinstall all previously removed parts in reverse order.55.Install supplied fuse in the fuse holder under hood.

26. Disconnect negative battery cable27. Remove the rubber liner in the pocket above the radio to access the 7mm screw and

remove the screw. Fig. 128. Remove the pocket, or window switch depending on trim level, below the radio by

prying loose with a panel removal tool. Find the 7mm screw and remove. Fig. 2


30. Remove the two 7mm screws (one on each side of the steering column) that secure the radio/instrument bezel. Fig. 4

31. Pull the radio/instrument bezel straight back and remove from dash. Fig. 532. Remove the screws securing the radio and pull the radio from the dash and

disconnect the wiring. Disconnect the antenna cable by pulling the locking antenna connector away from the radio. Caution: Pulling the antenna cable straight out of the radio without pulling on the locking antenna connector could damage the cable or radio. Fig. 6






33. Remove the two 7mm screws securing the plastic panel below the steering column indicated by the arrow in Fig. 7, and the one 7mm screw near the kick panel

34. Remove the dash end panel by prying loose with a panel removal tool. Fig. 8

35. Remove the two 7mm securing the speaker housing. Fig. 936. Remove the 10mm bolt securing the speaker housing. Fig. 1037. Carefully pull the dash panel outward until there is sufficient room to allow access

to remove speaker housing and disconnect wiring.

38. Install the amp/bracket assembly into position as shown in Fig. 11 and secure the top of the amp bracket using the supplied 10mm bolts.

39. Secure the bottom of the amp bracket using the supplied ¼” screw. Fig. 12

40. Pass the radio harness connecter behind the metal framework indicated by the arrow. Fig. 13

41. Connect the amplifier harness to the amplifier and route the harness up to the radio cavity.

42. Connect the male radio harness connecter to the female connecter of the amp harness and tuck this connection into the void between the radio opening and the instrument cluster to avoid interference with radio during reinstallation.

43. Route male connector of the amp harness back around the beam as the radio harness originally was. Fig. 14

44. You can now connect the radio to the amplifier harness and reconnect the antennae wire and reinstall the radio.

Power Harness Installation

45. Find the rubber grommet in the top driver’s side of the fire wall underneath the hood and remove it. Fig. 15

46. Using a razor knife make a small cut in the center of the grommet. Pass the end of the wire with the small terminal on the end through the grommet and pull the grommet up to the point where the plastic sheathing starts. Fig. 16

47. Run the wire through the grommet hole in the fire wall and reinstall the grommet.

48. Run the wire along the top of the fire wall toward the battery and secure with wire ties.

49. Remove the top of the fuse cover and using a 13mm socket and ratchet loosen and remove the nut on the positive battery accessory lug. Fig. 17

50. Connect the ring terminal of the power harness to the lug and retighten the nut.






Power Harness Installation continued

51. Install the supplied three pin connector by inserting the terminals on the end of the power wire into the back of the connector until they click and lock. Any wire can go in any hole. Fig. 18

52. Using a 10mm socket and ratchet remove one of the factory ground nuts on the driver’s side kick area. Connect the black ground wire, reinstall the nut and tighten. Fig. 19

Important!

If you have previously installed a Kicker® subwoofer kit (77KCK051 or 77KCK052) you would have tapped into the left front door speaker wires in the kick panel area. Disconnect those wires and reconnect them to the brown and green wires in the 4.1 amplifier harness. The brown wire connects to the brown wire and the green wire connects to the green wire. Fig. 20






53. Reinstall all previously removed parts in reverse order.54. Install supplied fuse in the fuse holder under hood.
