Task 2

Section 1

1. Open the Word application and open the document named Lowham Hall.

2. Select the entire document and change the font style to Calibri, font size 13.

3. Fully justify the entire document.

4. Change the title of the document to: Font size: 18 ptEmphasis: UnderlineAlignment: Centre Case: Uppercase (hint – do NOT retype)

5. Make the following changes to the sub-heading Introduction:Font size: 14 ptFont colour: Blue (any shade of dark blue)Emphasis: BoldAlignment: Left

6. Use the format painter to apply the formatting of the sub-heading Introduction to the following subheadings:

7. Change the numbered list to a bulleted list and italics. Change the alignment of the bulleted list to Left aligned.

8. Select the entire document. Add 6pt spacing after each paragraph.

9. Change the line spacing of the paragraph after the sub-heading Fees to single-line spacing.

10. Amend the bulleted list to include the additional text highlighted below: (hint – use a soft carriage return)

11. Identify the following paragraph marks that appear when you select the Show/Hide option. Select from the list below:

13. Go to the first paragraph starting with Recognition of the importance… Join this paragraph to the second paragraph starting with We offer three…Adjust the spacing so that it appears as one paragraph.

14. Go to the paragraph that starts after the sub-heading Tuition Blocks. Create a new paragraph at the sentence beginning with Our residential courses…

15. Save the document as Lowham Hall-yourname and close.

Section 2

16. Open the document named Energy. Select the entire document and apply the Normal text style to all the text.

17. Select the title of the document Energy and apply the Heading 1 text style.

18. Find the text BE SMARTER WITH CARS in the document and change the case so that each word is capitalized and the rest appear in lowercase (Hint – do NOT re-type).

19. Apply the Energy paragraph text style to the following headings:Saving Energy in the HomeBe Smarter With CarsRecycleShopping

20. Change the paper size to A4 and change the left and right margins to 2.5 cm.

21. Delete the text Care for your Neighbourhood ensuring that there is only one clear line-space between the paragraphs.

22. Ensure the Hide/Show button is active. Delete the two paragraph marks indicated so that the four lines of text appear with no line-spacing between them.

23. Go to the heading Saving Energy in the Home. Apply bullets to the list at the end of the paragraph starting with Turn down your central heating to choose energy efficient appliances.

24. Go to the heading Be Smarter With Cars. Apply bullets to the list starting from Walk or cycle… to Choose a car with…The bulleted list must be a different style than the list used for question 23.

25. Go to the heading Saving Energy in the Home. Remove the superscript in the first sentence.Go to the heading Recycle. Find the text (CH4) and change to (CH4)Apply superscript to the last two words of the document.

26. Go the heading Recycle. Indent the four lines of text starting from Keep separate bins for… to Reuse jars, bottles… using the default option.

27. Go to the heading Shopping after the text Hints and tips: Apply numbering to the four lines starting from Look out for environmentally friendly… to

28. Place the cursor anywhere in the paragraph starting with Burning fossil fuels…Add a Box border around the paragraph using the following specifications:Line width of 3ptShading of light green

29. Place the cursor in your bordered text and change the line-spacing to 1.5

30. Insert the following information in the header: Your name – left alignedAutomatic Date – right aligned

31. Insert the following information in the footer:Page number – centre aligned

32. Fill in the blanks using the appropriate view:Print Layout view Web Layout view Full Screen Reading view Outline view Draft view

     This allows you to view the document in full screen in order to maximise the space available for reading, editing or commenting on the document.

     Use this view for entering and formatting text. This view does not show page borders. This view does not show header and footer or how a document will appear in print.

     This view is useful when creating a web page. In this view, lines of text wrap as they would in a web browser and graphics are displayed in their correct locations.

      This view accurately shows how text and other page elements will be printed – useful when adjusting margins and layouts.

     

This view is useful for changing the structure of a document. Boundaries and margins are not shown and sections can be expanded or collapsed as required. The structure can be changed by dragging elements around the page.

Now try switching to the different views in the document that is already open.

33. Save the document as Energy-yourname and close.

34. Open document named Lowham Hall 2 and remove the option for Automatic Hyphenation.

35. Name the tabs below:

     

     

     

     

36. Change the default tab settings to 1.8 cm – use the Tab key to apply a first line indent to the first paragraph starting with Recognition of the importance…

37. Select the last four lines of the document and clear the Right align tab from the ruler.

38. Select the last four lines of the text. Create the following tab stops:

Centre Align Tab 6 cmDecimal Tab 12 cm

39. Complete the sentences using the text below:

move the first line of the paragraph to a first line indent of 1 cmnot move the first line of the paragraph and create a hanging indent of 1 cmmove the entire paragraph to a left indent of 1 cm

40. Select the second paragraph under the heading Residential Courses starting with The income we hope…. Apply a 2 cm left and right indent to this paragraph (do not use the ruler)

41. Insert an automatic filename in the footer of the document and using the Shrink Font command, reduce the size to 8pt.

42. Save the document as Lowham Hall 2 and close.

43. When you have finished all the above, save this existing document (ECDL WP task 2) as WP Task 2-yournameExit the application.
