Graves Elementary School Revised 7/13 Parental Involvement Policy Graves Parental involvement policy is an effort to build a long range program of collaboration between the school and the parents, which will effectively support the school’s vision of educating all the children for the 21 st century. Our policy states the following: Graves will hold an Annual Title 1 meeting each semester to share information with parents concerning: 1. The Title 1 Program and The Title 1 Requirements Graves School will offer a flexible number of meetings throughout the school year to inform parents of school programs, curriculum standards, student expectations and allow parent feedback Monthly calendars will be sent home at the beginning of each month to notify the parents of events. Graves School will offer the following workshops, events, services designed to teach parents how to help their children. 1. Family Math, Science and Reading Night 2. Muffins for Mom 3. Donuts for Dad 4. Family Support and Guidance Services 5. Family/Handbooks 6. Monthly Parent Meetings with Student Performances 7. Quarterly Parent Training Session Graves will hold parent-teacher conferences, Open House and PTO meetings to provide parents with information that concerns student performance and the interpretation of individual assessment results. Graves School is open to suggestions for planning, reviewing and improving the school program. Every opportunity will be made to respond to parents’ suggestion and needs in a timely manner. It is part of our vision to increase parent involvement in the school: therefore, throughout the school year parents may volunteer their services to: 1. Volunteer time to tutor a student and assist with fieldtrips 2. Become a volunteer listener or read to a class 3. Serve as a resource person in your field of expertise 4. Serve as a proctor for formal assessments
