Coach Herrick's Philosophy

2

My philosophy as a coach is a three-fold mission. First, development; second, growth; &

third, competitiveness. This applies for each athlete in the program. Within each of those

three areas, physical, social, and mental, the athlete will be positively taught and encouraged to

become personally developed further. The goal is for each athlete in the program, to be able to

leave as a stronger individual in all areas, and with the ability to make others stronger around

them.

All coaches and athletes will do things on and off the court that will develop the three-

fold mission of the program. This includes the development, growth, and competitiveness.

Also, each will understand the importance of physical, social, and mental wellness. If these

standards are not being upheld, the program will help each individual to get back on track.

Summer CampsSummer camps are held the last week of June for the Bountiful High Team Camp. The

second week of July are upper-level team camps, by invitation only. These camps are very

valuable for personal and team growth. These camps are not mandatory.

8

Bountiful High Open GymAnd Tryouts

Open gym is Monday nights from 7-9 PM, in the field house at Bountiful High, from the

First Monday in January, to the second Monday in May. The final open gym time will be the

first week of August before tryouts. You will see information on the Web Page and Facebook.

Tryouts are the second Monday in August. Please refer to the Bountiful High Web page for

accurate details.

9

Club Volleyball PhilosophyClub volleyball is not mandatory, but very highly recommended for continual growth

and development to keep up with the competition, both with other schools and within the

program at Bountiful High itself. B-Town the name of our local club, and it is recommended in

order to improve as a program, and make each other better. The club director is also sensitive

to other sports and activities here in Bountiful. The club is also sensitive to cost in comparison

to other clubs. Playing for B-Town has great benefits for the athlete and the program. Those

who choose to play other places are welcome and encouraged to play somewhere else, with no

personal ramifications. They are also welcome to join us anytime for practice no matter where

you play.
