Property Update | Spring 2016
Madison Service Center To build or buy-that was the question. And the answer is to pursue buildinga new Badgerland headquarters which will be known as the Girl ScoutLeadership Center. The Board of Directors has been considering whether tobuild or buy ever since the Property Plan was adopted nearly two years ago.The Plan calls for the current Ski Lane facility to be sold and the shop andoffices relocated. With the board's recent decision to build, the PropertyCommittee is now considering options to purchase land in greater Madison.There is no hard timeline attached to the project as the team carefullyreviews all options. In the meantime, the Ski Lane site is listed for sale.
Camp Oakwood Knoll The Walworth County camp remains on the market. The sale of this troopcamp is directed by the Property Plan approved by the Badgerland Board ofDirectors in 2014. Meantime, Oakwood Knoll is still available for usage byGirl Scout troops. Take your troop for an outing.
Getting Ready for Summer Camps Ehawee, Black Hawk and Brandenburg are getting cleaned up inreadiness for the (hopefully) busy summer season. At Ehawee, thePoolhouse and Stry Nature Center are getting fresh coats of paint and thecabin-staining project will be finished there before summer. At Black Hawk,look for new signage and improved trail conditions. Hilltop at Brandenburgis being spruced up in addition to a property-wide cleaning and theinstallation of a new well at Hawks Nest. Fun Fact: Did you knowBrandenburg is Badgerland's most-used property?!
Camporee Was Awesome! Hundreds of Girl Scouts had a blast at the 4th annual BadgerlandCamporee at Camp Ehawee last weekend. Girls got to experience all the funof overnight camping with tons of activities, including a camp-widescavenger hunt and the traditional Scout's Own Ceremony at the close.
