The 2016-17 Steve Rushing Memorial Scholarship Do you have a PASSION? What’s your DREAM? The Steve Rushing Memorial Scholarship was created to help YOU pursue your passion and achieve your dream. Mr. Steve Rushing was an original RMHS Mountain Lion and math teacher and girls’ golf coach for 25 years. He embodied integrity, hard work and dedication to his passion for teaching. Mr. Rushing respected every student’s individual gifts, and he encouraged each to pursue his/her dreams in life as he did. In his honor, a $2,500 scholarship is being offered to a 2017 graduating Red Mountain senior who is sincerely committed to making his/her dream a reality. This scholarship is intended to help you meet the costs of furthering your education, whether in art, music, journalism, teaching, web design, graphic arts, culinary arts, automotives, engineering, fashion, theatre…you name it! This grant is not limited to academic scholarships in the traditional sense. In the spirit of the individualism of this scholarship, you will be required to express in writing what your dream means to you and how you intend to apply it toward a career. Although it is not a requirement for this scholarship, applicants are also strongly encouraged to submit a creative representation of their passion. If you are serious about your goals and would make a good representative of the qualities Mr. Rushing demonstrated and inspired – integrity, hard work, dedication – submit a thoughtful application that lets you, as Mr. Rushing would say, “shine on.” Get creative! Think outside the box! Here is your chance to start showing the world what ya got!
