he National Branding Program is the only

one executed by the Government of

Vietnam with a view to promoting the

national image and national brands through product

brands. The above-mentioned product brands must

share and keep to the values pursued by the nation

in the course of economic integration: Quality –

Innovation, Creativity and Leadership.

The selected Vietnam’s brands must be

well-recognized by customers, built on

sustainable development strategy, and committed

to allocating resources for brand development and

keeping to the values of the Program.

Out of over 2,000 enterprises registering for the

Program, 572 enterprises have been picked out.

These enterprises have performed well in quality

management by international standards and

showed their responsible attitudes in tax payment,

customs procedure compliance, environment

protection and social security for their employees.

107 from the above-mentioned 572 short-listed

after their documents

have been appraised by the Program Secretariat

together with relevant government authorities,

including Directorate for Standards and Quality

(Ministry of Science and Technology), General

Department of Taxation, General Department of

Vietnam Customs (Ministry of Finance), General

Investment), Vietnam Environment Protection

Agency (Ministry of Natural Resources and

Environment), Department of Labor and

Environment Policies (Ministry of Labor, Invalids

Bank of Vietnam), Vietnam Food Administration

(Ministry of Health).

invited leading Vietnamese experts and specialists

in products and services sectors to take part in

the Council of Experts to appraise application

documents and also to organize direct appraisal in

the selected enterprises as per each and every

sector. To ensure the objectiveness, the Program

Secretariat has also hired a leading market research

company in Vietnam, Taylor Nielsen Sofres (TNS), to

conduct a sociological survey, to analyze consumer

perception of 106 brands and to do the ranking on

each and every brand nationwide.

After collecting and classifying all market research

results, application document appraisals and fact

agreed to approve 43 product brands of 43

enterprises eligible for the National Branding

Program.

The National Branding Council convened a general

product brands selected for the Program. These 43

product brands were then recognize by Decision

no. 2695/QD - BCT dated on 24th May, 2010 of the

Minister of Industry and Trade concurrently the

Chairman of the National Branding Council.

From 2007 to 2008, three more new IPs with total area of

10,000,000 sqm have been put into operation. Kinhbaccity

is now jointly managing and owning 20 IPs located in

strategic positions all over Vietnam through subsidiaries

Saigon Newport was established on 15 March

1989 in accordance with the Decision No 41/QP

by the Minister of Defense. Since December

2006, the company has transformed into the

form of a Holding company. On February 9th

2010, Saigon Newport Company became

Saigon Newport Corporation in according to

the decision No 418/ QD-BQP by the Defense

Minister.

During 21 years of the establishment and devel-

opment (15/3/1989-15/3/2010), Saigon

Newport Corporation has become the most

modern, professional and biggest container

terminal operator in Vietnam with the sea -port

operation services like: cargo handling, Logis-

tics, Maritime services, salvage, pilot, real estate,

and multi-modal transportation services. In the

present time, the SNP holds the leading market

share among the terminal operators in Vietnam.

The import-export container throughput of SNP

has accounted for more than 80 % of the market

share in Ho Chi Minh City area and nearly 50 %

nationwide.

SNP manages a system of the premises from the

North to the South with tens of subsidiary

terminals include: Tan Cang Terminal, Tan Cang-

Cat Lai Terminal, Tan Cang- Hiep Phuoc in Ho Chi

Minh City, Tan Cang- Cai Mep deep sea terminal

in Ba Ria Vung Tau, Tan Cang-middle Terminal in

Quy Nhon. Besides the terminal development,

SNP has also focused on the enlargement of the Logistic

network. SNP owns the ICD in the centre of the industrial

parks like Tan Cang- Song Than ICD in Binh Duong Province,

Tan Cang- Long Binh ICD in Dong Nai province, Tan Cang ICD

in Ho Chi Minh city, Nhon Trach depot in Dong Nai province,

Tan Cang- 128 ICD in Hai Phong and the coming Tan Cang- Cai

Mep in Baria Vung Tau. SNP has also deployed the barging

routes to connect Cambodia, Mekong Delta to Tan Cang- Cat

Lai and ICDs in Ho Chi Minh City and the terminals in Cai Mep.

In the future, the waterway transportation form Ho Chi Minh

City and Cai Mep to the central provinces of Vietnam shall also

be developed.
