Vidyalaya News-2019- 1 Phone : (033) 2477-2201/2 /3, 2477-2206 VIDYALAYA NEWS (January 2019 to December 2019) The Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya is an integral part of the Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Narendrapur which has its Headquarters at Belur Math, Howrah, West Bengal. Since its opening on 22 nd April 1958, it has been a residential school for boys established on the foundation of the high ideals of Swami Vivekananda, implementing the man-making and character-building ideals of education as propounded by him. The Vidyalaya is envisioned in the image of Indian Gurukul system where precious traditions and cherished values of the past and modern educational concepts have been integrated. It presents a synthesis of all that is best of the eastern and western models of education. It follows the trail as a paradigm of excellence to promote its culture and tradition. The lush green natural surroundings have given it a special identity. The Vidyalaya, its students and staff, all enjoy the blessings of Sri Ramakrishna, Sri Sarada devi and Swami Vivekananda. Till 1975, it was the only Multipurpose School in West Bengal which offered instructions in six streams, viz. Science, Humanities, Agriculture, Technical, Commerce and Fine Arts. Thereafter, in 1976 the Vidyalaya was converted into a Secondary School under the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education, with Bengali and English as medium of instructions. Students can choose either Bengali or Hindi as the first language. Since 2005, the Higher Secondary Course has been introduced in the Science stream only with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology, Statistics along with compulsory subjects Bengali, Hindi and English. The Higher Secondary Course is affiliated to the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education. The Vidyalaya consists of two separate campuses, each with its own school buildings and hostels. The boys of the junior classes (V-VII) stay in Junior Section campus. They have a nice three- storied school building and three hostels. They also have their own extensive play ground, a library specially meant for young readers and a small auditorium for cultural activities.     VIDYALAYA NEWS (January 2019 to December 2019)

    The Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya is an integral part of the Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama,

    2. School Recognitions:

    a) Mio-Amore Inter-School Mathematics Contest – 2018-19: -

    Our Vidyalaya bagged Mio-Amore Best School Award and received Gold trophy and cash of Rs. 1,50,000/-. Total 2261 students (with our 15 of class V- IX -2018) from 108 schools participated in Inter-School Mathematics Contest (Mio-Amore Mathematics) 2018-19.

    7 boys from different classes of our Vidyalaya won prizes & received cheque as Mio-Amore Mathemazic Scholarships – 2018-19 at Kala Mandir Auditorium on 20th April 2019. From – Class IX Mainak Sarkar, 9093 - 1st

    b) State Level Mathematics Fair-2019: Our school participated in the State Level Mathematics Fair-2019 organised by Bidhan Nagar Municipal School in collaboration with Calcutta Mathematical Society (CMS) on 27th April, 2019. 37 schools and 1006 students participated. From our school 167 boys participated in Workshop, Quiz Competition, Maths Talk contest, Poster Competition and Mathematics Model Competition. The participants were divided into many groups. Vidyalaya received special prizes Highest Participations & Best School Award and our boys won many prizes as follows :

    c) The Mathematical Kangaroo Competition–2019, organised by International Olympic

    Academy was held on 20.04.2019. Selected 608 students from V to X appeared in the examination. Result was announced in this time period. Boys received total nos. of 196 medals (Gold – 89, Silver – 53, Bronze – 54). 8 students received scholarships. We also received-Best Principal, Best Co-ordinator & Special Initiative Award, and overall our Vidyalaya received Best School Award in India with a beautiful memento & 11,000 /- cheque prize money.

    5. Performance in the Secondary & Higher Secondary Examinations:

    The performance of our students in the school final examinations has always been brilliant.

    Every year more than one hundred boys appear at the Madhyamik Pariksha and achieve

    hundred percent success. Many times, our students secured top ranks in the state merit list. In

    the past, it so happened that the top-most rank was secured by our students for four consecutive

    years. This year in the Madhyamik Examination, 85 out of 129 students secured 90% and above

    marks; while 125 students got 80% and above marks.

    a) 269 students from VIII to XI participated in the M.T.R.P. (Mathematics Talent Reward Programme) conducted by I.S.I.

    b) 15 students from V to X were selected for MATHEMAZIC – 2018-19 and the Examinations were held on 26.01.2019 & 27.01.2019.

    c) Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY): 8 students from XII and 1 student from XI have been selected as KVPY scholars. Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) is a scholarship programme funded by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, aimed at encouraging students to take up research careers in the areas of basic sciences, engineering and medicine.

    d) My polling Station Drawing Competition: 11 students participated in ‘My Polling Station Drawing Competition’ organised by Sishu Kishore Academy of Tathya Sanskriti Vibhag on 3rd April, 2019. A student of class VIII-D, Aniru Zzaman bagged the 3rd prize.

    e) “Arka Prava Baul Memorial Inter–School Quiz Competition”: Our school participated in “Arka Prava Baul Memorial Inter–School Quiz Competition” at V.C. Hall on 5th of May 2019 and emerged as Champion. The names of the Team members are:

    Search Examination (State Level) – 2018-19 held on Sunday, 16th of June, 2019. g) Our boys participated in an Inter school competition – 2019 to commemorate the life and

    work of Sri Aurobindo – organised by Sri Aurobindo Institute of culture on 24th June. They took part in Elocution, Essay writing and Quiz Competition. The Quiz team comprising, Debanjan Mallik (XII-A, Hs-993), Spandan Ray (XII-B, Hs-1031), Sagnik Koley (XII-B, HS-1018) won the prize.

    h) Our boys received state level prizes for their performance in ADTM & PTEEM – 2018-19 organised by CPSM on 30th June, 2019.

    b) Inaugural meeting of the H.S. Batch (2019 – 2021) was held on 20 June, 2019 at room 46. Respected Secretary Maharaj presided over the meeting and the chief guest was Prof. Satyajit Saha, Former Head, Department of Applied Nuclear Physics, Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics, Kolkata.

    c) A meeting of the Vidyalaya management with the guardians of class X was held on 14 July 2019 at Room 46 of the senior section.

    d) The parent – teachers meet were held on 03.08.2019 and 10.08.2019 respectively for Junior Section and Senior Section boys. After the meeting Teachers and parents partook lunch Prasad at respective Bhavanas.

    8. Celebrations :

    i) On 12.01.2019, 156th Birthday celebration of Swami Vivekananda was observed and a function comprising speech, songs, recitation was held at Vivekananda Centenary Hall. The Chief Guest was our ex-student, Shri Alapan Bandyopadhyay, IAS. and the guest of honour was Shri Shakti Prasad Mishra, Nivedita Chair, at the institute of Culture, Golpark. Our Secretary Maharaj also delivered an inspiring speech for all youths present there.

    ii) 157th Janmatithi Celebration of Swami Vivekananda was held on 27.01.2019 at the V.C. Hall. The Chief Guest was Swami Dharmeshwaranandaji Maharaj.

    iii) 123rd Birthday Celebration of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose was held on 23.01.2019 at the V.C. Hall and the Chief Guest was Brig. Niladri Shankar Mukherjee, (S.M, V.S.M,) Former State Commander, Kolkata.

    iv) On 26.01.2019 Republic Day was observed and the Chief Guest of the function was Subrata Talukdar, Hon’ble Justice of Calcutta High Court.

    v) On 2nd February 2019 Vidyarthi Vrata for the newly admitted boys of class V was held in the Junior Section Assembly Hall. Our respected Secretary Maharaj, Headmaster Maharaj, other monks, Brahmacharins, teachers and staff were present to bless the newly admitted boys. The parents were also present. All took lunch – Prasad after the function.

    vi) On 03.02.2019 Naranarayan Seva in connection with Sri Sri Ramakrishna, Sri Sri Ma Sarada Devi and Swami Vivekananda Jayanti was held at the Ashrama Campus and innumerable devotees took Prasad on that day.

    vii) Concluding Programme of Diamond Jubilee and 60th Annual Exhibition 2019

    The much-awaited Annual Celebration rolled on January 23, 2019 with the inauguration of our Annual Exhibition after lighting the lamp by Revered Swami Suviranandaji Maharaj, General Secretary of Ramakrishna Mission & Ramakrishna Math, Swami Sarvalokanandaji Maharaj, the Vidyalaya Secretary, Swami Vedapurushananda, Ex-Headmaster of Vidyalaya and Sri Kausik Ganguly an alumnus and eminent Film Director. They observed the projects of various departments and appreciated the creative works of our boys. They delivered short speeches to encourage all in V.C. Hall.

    To commemorate the Diamond Jubilee, ‘Hirakjyoti’ a souvenir has been published. A revised Website of the Vidyalaya has been lunched on the occasion of the Diamond Jubilee

    Celebrations. A musical album – ‘Jiban Jage Spandane’ has been published to mark the occasion of

    Diamond Jubilee. Prof. Arup Kumar Biswas, Dept. of History, RKMRC, Narendrapur and an ex-student of our Vidyalaya is the music composer and producer of the album. He himself has set to music the various juvenile poems. Our boys sang the songs.

    In the evening at V.C. Hall ‘Abritti o Shruti Natak’ was performed by Jagannath Basu and Urmimala Basu. Thereafter musical performance was given by Srikanta Acharya. All enjoyed the evening.

    On 24.01.2019, in the morning from 10 am Teachers’ Retreat was organised. It was purely an academic session – discussion of various education related topics. Chief speakers were Swami Divyanandaji Maharaj, Trustee, Ramakrishna Math and Secretary of Ramakrishna Mission Saradapitha, Belur Math. Prof. (Dr.) Basab Chaudhuri, Vice Chancellor, West Bengal State University.

    In the evening, from 5.45 pm. an orchestra ‘Mantra’ was performed by Sri Ajit Ghosh & his students. Then Teachers’ Drama ‘Swarna Trishna’ was performed. All enjoyed the performance of the teachers.

    On 25.01.2019, our boys demonstrated Yoga at the Mango grove. Junior boys participated in the Go-As-You like competition.

    In the evening at V.C. Hall, students’ Drama ‘Bhakta Prahlad’ was staged.

    On 26.01.2019, at V.C. Hall annual Prize Giving Ceremony took place. President of the function was Swami Balabhadranandaji Maharaj, Assistant General Secretary, Ramakrishna Math & Mission, Belur Math and the Chief Guest was Prof. (Dr.) Dhrubajyoti Chattopadhyay, Vice-Chancellor, Amity University. It was the last day of the Exhibition. Students and guests visited all the departments and enjoyed the exhibition.

    ix) Saraswati Puja was celebrated in the campus and ex-students, present students, teachers, guardians all took part along with Sanyasis and Brahmacharins. The school building was artificially decorated. Students were allowed to go home for a short vacation from 09/02/2019 to 12/02/2019.

    x) Maha Shivaratri was celebrated on 4th March, 2019 at Senior Section Assembly Hall. Vidyalaya students observed fast on that day and took part in Puja at evening. After offering ‘Anjali’ they partook Prasad.

    xi) A get together in connection with the Annual celebration was held on 7th March, 2019 at the V.C. Hall. The participants of various departments were given away prizes. English

    xii) 184th Tithi Puja celebration of Sri Ramakrishna Deva was celebrated on 8th March, 2019 at V.C. Hall from 8 a.m. Swami Sarvalokanandaji presided over the function.

    xiii) A cultural programme was held on 9th March, 2019 in the evening at Senior Section Assembly Hall. Students from VIII to X attended the programme.

    xiv) The Holi festival was celebrated on 21.03.2019 in the campus. Boys enjoyed playing colours with their friends.

    xv) Foundation Day Celebration – The 77th Foundation Day of Ashrama was observed centrally from Ashrama at V.C. Hall on 7th May, 2019, Tuesday. Our students participated in the morning programme along with the other units of the Ashrama and few students performed on the stage. All the teachers, students, staff, guardians, ex-students and devotees were present and they partook lunch – Prasad after the function. In the evening a cultural programme was performed by the cultural group of RKM - EMRS Jhargram. A cultural group of our Vidyalaya also staged an orchestra ‘JONAKI’.

    xvi) On 9th May, 2019 morning, the 159thRabindra Jayanti was celebrated at “AamraKunja” of the Vidyalaya and the chief guest was the renowned writer Sri Smaranjit Chakraborty. In the evening a cultural programme with Rabindra Nattya (performed by the students of Class VII) was observed by students of V – VII in the Junior Section Assembly Hall. And also dramas based on Rabindranath & his writings were staged by students of Classes VIII, IX & X in the Senior Section Assembly Hall.

    xvii) Our Vidyalaya observed the Birth & death anniversary of Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy on July, 1, 2019 as per the directive of the state government.

    xviii) Vidyalaya was closed on 4th July, on account of Ratha yatra. The boys of junior section pulled a well decorated chariot around the campus jubilantly.

    xix) On 1st August 2019, our boys participated in a Drama “Danta Bichitra”. xx) An Inter class ‘Geeti Alekhya’ competition was held on 3rd August, 2019. Boys of VIII, IX and

    X participated. xxi) The 73rd Independence Day was celebrated on 15th August, 219. The chief guest was Sri

    Sabyasachi Hazra, former Chairman and Managing Director, the Shipping Corporation of India. The Guest of Honour was Colonel Debasish Mitra, Headquarter, Bengal Subarea, Kolkata.

    xxii) Sri Krishna Janmastami was observed on 23rd August, 2019 at Senior Section Assembly Hall. xxiii) On 05.09.2019, Teachers’ Day was observed. This is for the first time the programme was

    organised at V.C. Hall from 10.45 am. The President was Swami Devarajanandaji Maharaj from Belur Math, the Chief guest was Mani Shankar Mukherjee, a famous writer and Sheriff of Kolkata. Teachers performed in a ‘Geeti Alekhya’ titled ‘Khonj’ and a Mime show on Environment. Students also participated to pay their respect to teachers. All enjoyed the function. Our revered Secretary Maharaj addressed the welcome speech and our Headmaster Maharaj delivered the Vote of Thanks. The programme was a huge success.

    xxiv) Mahalaya was aired to the boys in the early morning in their Bhavanas and then Television programme of the function was also enjoyed by the boys on 28th September, 2019.

    a) Swami Shivananda Jayanti was celebrated on 01.01.2019, Swami Saradananda Jayanti was celebrated on 12.01.2019 and Swami Turiyananda Jayanti was celebrated on 20.01.2019. Bhavanas were well decorated, special pujas were organised and prasad was served.

    b) Swami Niranjanananda Jayanti was observed on 15th August, 2019 – by offering pujas and distributing Prasad at noon. The boys of Niranjanananda Bhavana decorated their bhavana beautifully and special pujas were arranged. At noon ‘Prasad’ was served to all.

    c) On 29.08.2019, Swami Advaitananda Jayanti and on 23.09.2019 Swami Abhedananda Jayanti were observed respectively with due reverence. All ashramites took Prasad at noon. The Bhavanas were colourfully decorated by our boys.

    d) Swami Akhandananda Jayanti was celebrated on 29th September, 2019 by offering pujas and distributing Prasad at noon. Special pujas were arranged. At noon ‘Prasad’ was served to all.

    e) On 11th November, 2019, Swami Vijnanananda Jayanti was celebrated in the respective bhavana. A special puja was organised and the bhavana was beautifully decorated by the boys of class VIII. All partook Prasad in the noon.

    f) Swami Premanananda Jayanti was observed on 5th December, 2019 - by offering pujas and distributing Prasad at noon. Special pujas were arranged. At noon ‘Prasad’ was served to all.

    9. Games & Sports : ‘Healthy mind lives in a healthy body’—keeping in conformity with this

    proverb, Physical Education has been made compulsory here for all the boys of classes V to X.

    Boys take part in the morning drill, physical exercises, indoor and outdoor games regularly.

    We organize year-round programme of games and sports activities for the boys. The major

    outdoor games are Football, Cricket, Volley-ball, Basketball, Badminton and Swimming. Table-

    Tennis, Yogasana and Carrom are the popular indoor games. In order to induce healthy

    competition among the boys, several tournaments are also conducted. Our boys meet different

    educational institutions in friendly Cricket and Football matches.

    a) Annual Sports: - The Annual Sports of the Ashrama was held on 07.01.2019 and 08.01.2019. All students, teachers and staff participated actively and enjoyed the sports days. After the end of all events, prizes were given to the winners of various categories. The chief guest was Mr. Samar Kr. Paul, Vice President of the Cricket Association of Bengal.

    a) An Educational Tour to Asansol, Deoghar, Purulia and nearby areas was organised for boys of class IX from 13.02.2019 to 16.02.2019.

    b) On 15th February, 2019 class X boys went for special Educational Tour to Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers Ltd.

    c) On 15th& 16th February, class VII boys went for an Educational tour to Tarakeswar, Kamarpukur, Joyrambati and Bishnupur.

    d) A two-day tour to Mayapur, Murshidabad was organised for boys of class VIII on 15th& 16th February, 2019.

    e) On 03.03.2019 a one day Educational tour for boys of class VI was organised to places of interact in and around Kolkata.

    f) Some newly recruited Teachers along with the Headmaster went on a pilgrimage tour related to Thakur, Maa, Swamiji in and around Kolkata on 29/03/2019.

    g) A two-day tour to Visva-Bharati, Santiniketan was organised for boys of class XII on 16th

    & 17th November, 2019. h) Students of class XI went for an Educational Tour to Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh

    along with monastic members, teaching & non-teaching staff members from 22.12.2019 to 27.12.2019.

    12. Seminars and Popular talks: In order to widen the intellectual horizon of our students and the teachers, a diversified

    program of seminars, workshops and popular talks are organized throughout the year. The

    following are the programs organized this year.

    i) Mr. M.D. Qutubuddin Khan (Deputy Superintendent of Police,Baruipur), Shri Ajoy Prasad, I.P.S. (the S.P. of Baruipur Police), Shri Gunasindhu Sahu (Sub Inspector of Police, Cyber cell, CID, Bhawani Bhavan) delivered lecture on “Career Orientation, Cyber Crime and Safe Drive,

    Save Life” on 06.01.2019 at Vidyalaya Senior Section Assembly Hall before the boys of class IX & X.

    ii) Sri Debasish Biswas (Arjuna Awardee, Mountaineer & Everest Climber) delivered a popular talk on 06/04/2019 at Senior Section Assembly Hall in the evening.

    iii) Prof. (Dr.) Siddhartha Sen, Emeritus Professor, Trinity College, Dublin delivered a Popular Talk on 12th April, 2019 before class XII boys on “The Adventure in Physics and Mathematics”.

    iv) Mr. Shaubhik Mukhopadhyay, Media Manager, Indian Football Team and an alumnus of our Vidyalaya (2003 Batch) delivered a Popular Talk on “The Behind – The Scenes World of Football and experiences with the Indian Football Team in India and aboard” on 1st May, 2019 at Vidyalaya Assembly Hall before students from VIII to X.

    v) To mark the 125th Anniversary of Swamiji’s Historic Chicago addresses, Swami Sumanasanandaji Maharaj, President of the Ramakrishna Centre, Durban delivered a talk on “Inculcation of values through Swami Vivekananda’s Historic Addresses in Chicago” on 10th July, 2019.

    vi) On 21 July 2019, our XI and XII boys attained an interactive session on the topic - “Chemistry for Middle School Curriculum in India” with Sri Amitava Mazumder, a senior lecturer, ganguly mics, Dept. of Chemistry, Sri Chaitanya IPL ICON Batch.

    vii) Sri Debasish Biswas, Arjun Awardee, Mountaineer and Everest climber delivered a popular Talk on 3rd August at Junior section Assembly Hall before the students of V to VII.

    13. Higher Secondary Section :

    a) 50 boys from our Vidyalaya have been directly admitted on the basis of their academic performance in both school’s examinations and the Board’s examination after meeting with the students & their guardians on 24.05.2019.

    b) The Aptitude Test of Admission for in-taking few (Thirty Eight) outside & our students in class XI was held on 26.05.2019. The result of the Aptitude Test was published on 29 May, 2019. New boys were admitted after meeting with the students & their guardians on 30 May, 2019. The classes of XI started from 20 June, 2019.

    a) Health check-up for class V students was held at Junior Section Assembly Hall on 7th& 12thApril 2019.

    b) Our class XII boys participated in a National Seminar on Science & Technology funded by Ceramic Glass, at Sarada Hall, Narendrapur on 20.04.2019.

    c) Orientation camp for the Headmaster and Assistant Teachers for National Children Science Congress was held at Narendrapur on 25th April 2019. More than 200 teachers of South 24 Parganas attended the meeting.

    d) 40 students (Medical Group) of class XII visited International Medical Education Fair-2019(11th& 12th June) at Rotary Sadan, Kolkata on 11th June 2019.

    i) On 20.01.2019 our students received prizes at Gita Jnana Competition organised by the ‘Sankhanad Mission’.

    ii) On 31.01.2019, two teachers of the Vidyalaya Mr. Prasun Mukherjee (Mathematics Department) and Mr. Rabindranath Chatterjee (English Department) retired from their job officially and a felicitation function was arranged at Room – 46.

    iii) The new classes for XII started on 1st April, 2019. iv) Swami Tatparananda (Somesh Maharaj) took charge as the Chief Housemaster of

    Advaitananda Bhavana. v) The Telegraph newspaper published an article on our Annual Function on 02.02.2019 in their

    ‘Metro’ section. vi) From 1st March, 2019, Mr. Saikat Basu, Assistant Teacher of English, took the charge as

    Proctor. vii) Mr. Purnananda Mal, Assistant Teacher of History, took the charge as Assistant Prefect of the

    Junior Section. viii) On 31.03.2019 a small Farewell Meeting was organised at Room 46 for Mr. Sushil Kumar

    Mondal, an assistant teacher of English Department. ix) A Book fair was organised from 7th to 9th May, 2018 at Vidyalaya Senior Section. ‘Scholastic

    India’ was the participating firm. Vidyalaya Students and staff visited the fair and purchased books.

    x) Mr. Abhijit Pal (Assistant Teacher of Life Science Department) retired from service on 29th June, 2019. A farewell meeting was organised at the Assembly Hall.

    xi) Vidyalaya was closed for mini – vacation from 12 August to 14 August, 2019 xii) On 10.09.2019 a Farewell Meeting was organised by students of Class X at Senior Section

    Assembly Hall.

    xiii) On 20.09.2019, a Demonstration class for class X was held and teachers delivered their important advice and suggestion for the ensuing Madhyamik Examination.

    xiv) On 29.09.2019 a Farewell Meeting was organised by students of Class XII at Senior Section Assembly Hall.

    xv) The Vidyalaya including its office was closed for Puja Vacation from 03.10.2019 to 03.11.2019 xvi) A meeting of the Academic council was held on 07.11.2019 at Senior Section Teachers’

    Common Room. New routine committee and calendar committee were formed and several issues related to academic activities have been discussed.

    xvii) The Admission Test for class V was held on 01.12.2019. This year, the number of boys appeared was 1950.

    xviii) A meeting in connection with Admission Test of class V was held on 28.11.2019. The result of the written Examination was published on 7th December 2019.

    16. Staff Picnic:

    Two days Staff-Picnic to Sagardwip, Manasadwip and nearby places was organized on 15th & 16th December 2019. Teaching and Non-Teaching staff, Housemasters along with Sannyasis and Brahmacharis participated in the picnic.

    17. Co-curricular Activities :

    In order to inculcate all the finer aspects of a complete man, a diversified programme of

    educational practice is followed here. To motivate the students to find interests in various

    curricular subjects, a number of hobby clubs in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics,

    Geography, History, Computer were organized for the students of class IX. From 2015, a

    Robotics Hobby Club was also started in Senior Section and from 2017 in Junior Section. Boys of

    the Junior Section joined either the Music Hobby Club or the Scout or the Bratachari Troop or

    the Band. Students are also trained to learn the art of self-governance by serving on the

    students’ councils known as the ‘Vidyarthi Samsad’. The Samskriti Parisad organized different

    cultural programmes, celebrations and competitions throughout the year.

    18. Publications :

    A number of wall-magazines on different subjects of interests were published regularly by the

    students themselves in the Vidyalaya Hobby Clubs and in all the Bhavanas. An Annual

    Vidyalaya Magazine ‘Phalguni’ was also published where the students contributed articles in

    Sanskrit, Hindi, Bengali and English. 19. Vidyalaya Cadet Corps & Boy-scout etc :

    The Cadets of the Vidyalaya Cadet Corps, Boy-scout, Bratachari and Band had their regular

    training during the academic session. All the cadets took part in the ceremonial parade held on

    Netaji Jayanti, Republic Day and Independence Day.

    20. Computer, Music, Fine Arts & Work Education :

    These departments remained busy during the year under qualified teachers.

    21. Vidyalaya Praktani : Ex-students are truly the assets of any institution. We feel proud of our

    alumni who have imbibed the high ideals for which this Vidyalaya stands. They are placed in

    different parts of the country and abroad. Many of them keep regular contact with the Vidyalaya

    and participate in the development activities of the Vidyalaya in particular and the Ashrama in

    general by helping financially or otherwise. We express our sincere gratitude to all who helped

    financially for different activities of the Vidyalaya. We invite cordially more participation from

    the members of the Praktani.

    Praktani Retreats: - This year too there was general retreat for our ex-students. On 14 & 15 December, 2019 - General Retreat. On 21 & 22 December, 2019 - for 1994 batch who are completing 25 years of their passing

    out. On 22 December, 2019 – felicitation of 1969 batch for completing 50 years of their passing

    out. 22. Help, Scholarship & Subsidies etc.:

    A sum of Rs. 14,01,300 was given as Scholarship to 120 students of the Vidyalaya during the year.

    More than two lakh rupees were spent on the welfare of our Vidyalaya Students’ Home Staff.

    23. Donations :

    Donations can be sent by Cheque/Draft drawn in favour of ‘RKMAV STUDENTS’ HOME,

    NARENDRAPUR’ or through online donation facility through our website,
