FlashPioneer Video Chat for E-learning

User’s Guide

 Log in and Register --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There are three kinds of identities in Video Chat for Education: teacher, student and administrator. Users must register first, and then the admin will assign the registered user to be teacher or student.

Register

“User Name” is displayed in Video Chat, which must be unique. Two same names are not allowed.

The “password” must keep identical with “confirm password”.

Avatar is for user’s portrait setting.

Real Name refers to the user’s actual name.

E-mail is for user’s email address.

Login

After finishing the registration, users will be led to the login webpage by the system automatically.

Please use the registered name and password to login. By default, users login as student. If you are the teacher of the course, please ask the admin to make the relevant changes.

Login as a teacher 

When users log in as a teacher, he or she will see the window as below:

Create Course

Click “Create Course” to enter the webpage for course creating. Here you can input the course name, the course duration, the welcome news, the introduction of the course and the students list for the course.

Profile Management

Click “Profile Management” to enter the privacy account management interface. Users can change password, avatar and other personal information here.

Course List

Clicking “Course List”, users can see the information of classrooms he/she created, including the opened and the finished course.

Here you can manage the courses including changing the courses information and deleting the courses. Click “Enter Class” to enter the relevant teaching time.

Log in as a student 

When uses log in as a student, he or she will see the windows as below:

Profile Management

Click “Profile Management” to enter the privacy account management interface. Users can change password, avatar and other personal information here.

Course List

After clicking course list, users can enter and browse all the course information here including finished courses and coming course.

My Course List

Check and visit the course you should take through this list in a fast way..

Message Toolbar Function Instruction

Avatar Choices

The first icon of the toolbar above the input area is a default avatar image. You may select an avatar to stand for yourself by clicking on the icon and choosing from the nail-up panel.

Users may change avatar all the time but just one avatar for one time. And the avatar always displays on the ahead of the message seen on board.

Bold Font

The "B" icon represents bold text. Click the "B" icon and the whole message becomes bold. Click it again to restore it to normal text.

Italic Font

The "I" icon represents italic text. Click the "I" icon and the whole message becomes italic. Click it again to restore it back to normal text.

Underline Font

The "U" icon represents underline text. Click this "U" icon and the whole message becomes underlined. Click it again to restore it to normal text.

Font Color & Size

The color block beside "U" icon is for selecting colors. Once a color is selected from the color-picker, the whole message will change to this color.

Click a size number to make the message letters bigger or smaller. The size number you choose will display on the toolbar. One font size is in one message at the same time.

Add Animation Smiley

Select an animation smiley and its code will appear in your input area. And it will change to be smiley again once you send it out. You may add more than one smiley into your message and what you add will be seen together with the text. You can also input the code directly instead of select one by one. Below are all of the codes for your reference

Send Pre-message

There are many pre-messages for selection and sending directly instead of typing every time. Users may define new ones by self and add them by clicking plus sign. Users may also delete any ones appointed to by clicking subtraction sign. Tips: you can use %USE% to instead your name when sending messages.

Paper Toolbar Function Guide

Pencil Tool

Click to switch to pencil tool, then when the mouse moves into the white board, the mouse changes to a pencil icon, with which you can draw lines on the board freely.

Beeline Tool

Click to switch to beeline tool, then by pressing and releasing the mouse to make the two points for a beeline.

Rectangle Tool:

Click to switch to rectangle tool, then by pressing , dragging and releasing the mouse to make the tow points for a rectangle.

Ellipse Tool:

Click to switch to ellipse tool, then by pressing , dragging and releasing the mouse to make the tow points for an ellipse.

Pencil Color Setting

You can change the pencil color and the graphic frame color.

Filling Color

You can change the filling color here.

Line Size

You can change the line size of the pencil or graphic frame.

Clear Now button:

The button only can be seen by the teacher, which is for cleaning the drawing board.

 Video Functions ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After entering the room, you will see the interface below, the videos are teacher’s video (the biggest one on the left) and four students’ videos (the students vide number can be configured by the admin) respectively.

Teacher checks and controls all the students’ video by online user list. The explanations for the state icons as following:

Users see these icons when their cameras are not turned on.

Users see this icon when they don’t have the camera device.

When the video is playing, users will see this icon.

When the sound is playing, users will see this icon.

The teacher’s video can not be turned off.

The access of students’ videos and sound are controlled by the teacher. Click the relevant icons in the online user list to turn on or turn off the students’ videos or audios.

The Control of Teacher’s Video

Click the black square icon to stop the teacher’s video display on your window. Note: it just stop displaying the video on teacher’s side, the other students can see the teacher’s video still.

Click the speaker icon to turn on or turn off the audio.

Click the third icon to open the advanced control panel of video.

Set the video and audio devices of VideoChat in video control panel.

The Control of Students’ Videos

Click the black square icon to stop the student’s video displaying on your window. Note: it just stop displaying the video on your side, the teacher and other students can see the teacher’s video still.

Click the speaker icon to turn on or turn off the audio.

The video sound control is on the lower right corner.
