You can publish your video to a course media gallery and the course coordinator is able to either review / mark your video or approve your video to be shared with other students enrolled in the course. Steps for submitting your video assignment: 1. Upload your video to your My Media area and check it. Submit your video by either (check your assignment instructions): a. My Media All staff and students have a My Media area where they can: upload videos, contribute videos to your course Course Gallery so that other students may view it (if your course coordinator approves the video file to be shared), create webcam recordings, create screen recordings, create clips of your videos, create video quizzes.

Video assignment submission

(Students)

Overview Kaltura is UQ’s student video server, videos uploaded to Kaltura are private and cannot be viewed by the public. You can publish your video to a course media gallery and the course coordinator is able to either review / mark your video or approve your video to be shared with other students enrolled in the course.

Steps for submitting your video assignment:

1. Upload your video to your My Media area and check it.

Submit your video by either (check your assignment instructions):

a. Contribute your video to your course Course Gallery, so that your course coordinator is able to review it and/or approve it to share with the other students enrolled in the course.

AND / OR

b. Include a link to your video from My Media as part of your Blackboard Assignment submission.

Note: To use Kaltura on campus you must be logged into the UQ Internet Quota System. i.e. Enter any external website address into your browser, enter your user name and password and click continue.

My Media All staff and students have a My Media area where they can:

upload videos,

contribute videos to your course Course Gallery so that other students may view it (if your course coordinator approves the video file to be shared),

create webcam recordings,

create screen recordings,

create clips of your videos,

create video quizzes.

Access to My Media

Login to Learn.UQ(Blackboard)

Click on My Media link.

Upload video

Click on the (Add New) button.

Select Media Upload from the drop down menu.

Click on the (Choose a file to upload) button.

Select and open the required video file.

Fill out the details for your video, while the video file uploads.

Enter the title of your assignment in the Name textbox.

Optionally (refer to your assignment instructions) enter a description of your video in the Description textbox.

Adding identifier tags to your video

Note: It is recommended that all videos added to My Media have tags associated with them. This enables better search functionality and is an efficient way of organising / categorising your videos. Check your assignment instructions for the tags required.

Type any identifiers / catergories into the Tags textbox. You may be asked to include the following tags (check your assignment instructions): course code, year / semester offering, assignment title, group name. Example tags: POLS1201, S2_2016, video case study, Group E

Click on the tag name if you would like to create a new tag, or alternatively select one of the previously used tags from the drop down list.

Wait for the video to upload.

Click on the (Save) button.

Note: You will need to save first, prior to publishing your video to a specific course gallery.

Contribute your video to the Course Gallery Your course coordinator may request that you submit your video assignment by publishing it to the shared Course Media Gallery. When your video is uploaded to My Media it is only visible to you, publishing your video to the Course Media Gallery gives your course coordinator access to review it. Your course coordinator may also want to make your video visible to other students in the course, in that case they will need to approve your video.

Publish at upload video stage

Upload and save your video to My Media.

Select the Published radio button.

Check the relevant course code from the list.

Click on the (Save) button

A confirmation message will be shown and your video will be set as pending until the course coordinator approves for it to be published in the selected course media gallery.

If the video is not to be shared with the rest of the students enrolled in the course, the status will remain as pending and the video will only be visible to you and your course coordinator.

Click on Go To Media to check your submission.

Publish from My Media

Login to Learn.UQ(Blackboard)

Click on My Media link.

Note: Videos in My Media will have one of the following statuses:

None: The video has been published to the course gallery and the course coordinator has approved the video. All students enrolled in the course will be able to view your video within the Course Media Gallery.

Pending: The video has been published to the course gallery and shared with the course coordinator only. The video is only visible to you and your course coordinator.

Private: The video is only in My Media and is not available to anyone else. Only you are able to view the video.

Click on the name of the video that you would like to publish.

Click on the (Actions) button.

Select Publish from the drop down list.

Select the Published radio button.

Check the relevant course code from the list.

Click on the (Save) button

Click on the (Back) button to return to the video.

Click on the (Back) button to return to My Media.

The status will now be set to pending and your video will be available to your course coordinator for review.

View the Course Gallery

Your course coordinator will need to have added a link to the Course Gallery to the Course Menu of your course. They will also need to approve your video for it to become visible to other students enrolled in the course.

While your video is in pending status, it will only be visible to you and your course coordinator.

Assignment submission Open your course and click on the assignment submission link.

Click on the (Write Submission) button.

Click on the (Show more) icon.

Click on the (Insert Mashup) button.

Select Kaltura Media from the drop down list.

All the videos in your My Media area will be displayed.

Optionally, click on the (Play) button to view you video.

Click on the (Select) button to link the video to your assignment submission.

A thumbnail link to your video will be displayed in the Visual Text box editor.

Attaching other file/s

If you have to upload any supporting file/s as well as linking your video:

Click on the (Browse My Computer) button.

Select and open the required file/s.

Note: Upload any video submission files through the (Insert Mashup) button. For all other files, you can include them as an attachment.

Submit

Click on the (Submit) button.

Optionally, click on the video thumbnail to watch the video you submitted.

Click on the (OK) button
