    Mary Jo Barrett and Dr.Linda Stone Fish, co-authors of the recently

    published Treating Complex Trauma: A Relational Blueprint for

    Collaboration and Change, will discuss the causes of vicarious trauma,

    considering the process through which service providers take on clienttrauma and develop burn-out and compassion fatigue. The webinar

    provides strategies for self-care using the Collaborative Change Model.

    Presenter BiographiesMary Jo Barrett, MSW, has been working in the field of family violence

    since 1974 and currently serves as the Executive Director and founder of

    The Center for Contextual Change, Ltd. Previously, Ms. Barrett was the

    Director of Midwest Family Resource and also founded the Family Dialogue

    Project, which strives to redefine relationships with families impacted by

    allegations of abuse and trauma.

    Ms. Barrett has coauthored several books on incest and trauma. She co-

    created the Collaborative Change Model, a highly successful contextual

    model of therapy used to transform the lives of those impacted by abuse and/or traumatic

    events. Her trainings and published works focus on this model as well as systemic and feminist

    treatment of women, adult survivors of sexual abuse and trauma, eating disorders, couple

    therapy, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, and Compassion Fatigue. Ms. Barrett provides trainings

    nationally and internationally for diverse audiences on issues of trauma and family violence.

    Ms. Barrett holds a Masters in Social Work from the University of Illinois Jane Addams School ofSocial Work and is currently on the faculties of University of Chicago, School of Social Service

    Administration, The Chicago Center For Family Health, and the Family Institute of Northwestern

    University.

    Presenter Biographies

    Dr. Linda Stone Fish is the David B. Falk Endowed Professor of

    Marriage and Family Therapy at Syracuse University. She co-authored the recently published book, "Treating Complex

    Trauma: A Relational Blueprint for Collaboration and Change"

    with Mary Jo Barrett. Dr. Stone Fish is also the author of

    numerous research and theoretical articles and co-authored

    the book, Nurturing Queer Youth: Family Therapy

    Transformed. She has been training couple and family

    therapists for over 25 years and has been working with clients

    with a history of complex trauma for over 30 years.

    She received her doctorate at the Purdue University Marriage

    and Family Therapy Program and her MSW at the JaneAddams College of Social Work University of Illinois at Chicago

    Circle.
