Philosophy

VICARA is a brand based in Leiria, Portugal, dedicated to edit products designed to explore the frontiers of design.

Each product has its matter, its history and its place. We search for autochthonal and unespected materials, inovative production processes and concepts that go beyond the established way of thinking.

VICARA is made of individuals, people that, with their way of thinking and doing contribute, as a whole, to a certain identity.

We search plurality, in products, ranging diferent areas and typologies, and in individu-als, professionals with various criatives aproaches, to reach the needs of diferent sectors.

This object departs from the most tradicional typologies and the constant will to change an objects shape so that it doesn't become static and, therefore, obsolete.CAD-CAM modelling is used to combine diferent pro�les, in this case 3, in one shape.In this way, whenever is wanted, the object can be transformed, with a simple rotation.

"This is our way to create a product that is always individual, and to pay homage to the spirit of hand crafting and the uniqueness and dedication involved in it."

Inspired by the age old tradition of crochet, and decorative knitting, medallions is a quite unique candleholder. There are no two identical items. Each handle is individually knitted, and carefully placed on the objects body in a technique that essentially freezes in porcelain each unique and delicate knitted handle.

This technique preserves all the detail, and lightness of the knot, displaying for all to see the hard work and dedication that comes into making one of these pieces.
