VI International Conference on Legume Genetics and Genomics
)
Welcome!
Legumes play important role in the quality of life on human kind and form a major crop for human food, animal feed and forage. Legumes have been part of agricultural production in several continents for thousands of years. Most legumes possess seeds rich in protein, oils and starches. They have the potential to play an increasing role in alleviating these threats owing to their ability to produce, with minimal environmental damage and external energy input in the form of nitrogenous and phosphorous fertilizers. The VI ICLGG is an continuous effort of its mission to bring together scientists working on research aspects of legume biology in model species, using genetic and genomic tools, with those working on applied aspects and breeding of crop and pasture species. The meeting will focus on fundamental discoveries that extent our understanding of the unique traits of legumes and review the tools and resources and approaches including technological advances to study legume genome(s). You and your colleagues and collaborators are invited to contribute to the scientifically rich meeting and explore the historical city and the beautiful country in a pleasant weather !!
Looking forward to welcoming you in VI ICLGG in Hyderabad!
Conference Topics:
The meeting will have lead and invited presentations from the leading authorities in legumes research, contributory presentations from the selected abstracts and dedicated poster sessions as following themes:
 Next generation genomics Nutrition Development Evolution and Diversity Symbiosis Abiotic Stress Pathogenesis and disease resistance Translational genomics Genomics assisted breeding Harnessing germplasm resources
In addition, some workshops on topical subjects are also being organized on October 2, 2012.

General information:
Hyderabad city:
Hyderabad is the capital city of Andhra Pradesh (AP) and the fifth largest city in India, with an ancient civilization and culture. Attached to the city is its twin, Secunderabad, which is part of Hyderabad. The twin cities, Hyderabad and Secunderabad are separated by the Hussain Sagar, an artificial lake constructed during the time of Ibrahim Quli Qutub Shah Wali in 1562 A.D. While AP is known as the most IT savvy state in India, Hyderabad is emerging as a major center for IT exports. The city is nearly 400 years old and is noted for its natural beauty, mosques and minarets, bazaars and bridges, hills and lakes. It is perched on the top of the Deccan Plateau, 1776 ft., above sea level, and sprawls over an area of 100 sq. miles.
Charminar, Mecca Masjid, Golconda Fort, Qutb Shahi Tombs, Spanish Mosque, Chowmahalla Palace, Falaknuma Palace, Birla Mandir, Salar Jung Museum, Statue of Buddha amid the Hussain Sagar Lake, and several Heritage structures are some of the important tourist places in Hyderabad.
