4.Device installation
The device is made in a metallic ase for the installation on a vertical vessel bulkhead
or chassis. The special holes in the case is inteded for the device installation (see Figure 1).
It is recommended to install the device in the following sequence:
1) prepare the place for installation on the vessel bulkhead or chassis according to the
outline device drawing near the VHF station (see Figure 1);
2) remove the cover of device and fasten the case on the vessel bulkhead or chassis;
3) disconnect the cable of a handset from radio station and connect it with the terminal
PHONE on a PCB of VI-116;4) connect the cable with a free terminal on the station instead of hand set; the other
cable end is to be connected with the terminal RT on the PCB of VI-116;

5) when using the device with the radio station RT-4822/FM-8500, supply the power
from 10 to 36 VDC to the slot +12 V on the board VI-116. When connected to the radio
station RT-2048, the external current source is not required;
6) connect the cable from voyage data recorder with the slot Audio Out of the board
VI-116, at that the positive lead is to be connected to the outlet +, and the negative lead to
the outlet - or GND depending on the required signal amplitude (when connected to the
outlet GND the output signal amplitude becomes two times less than the amplitude set by thejumpers J6, J7, J8 and J9);
7) set the jumpers in accordance with the connected radio station (see Section 6) and
supply the power;
8) check the serviceability of VI-116 and install the cover.

6.Device Setting
Before the first device switch on it is necessary to select a type of radio station to be
toggled on using the jumpers J1, J2, J3, J4, J5, J10, J11, J12.
Set the jumpers according to the following table:
Group MIC Group TLF
J1 J2 J3 J4 J5 J10 J11 J12J13
RT-4822 (Sailor) X X 4822
RT-2048 (Sailor) X X 2048
FM-8500 (Furuno) X X
X jumper is set, empty cell jumper is not set.
2048 4822 position of jumper according to the mark on the board.
For usage with the different types of voyage data recorders (simplified voyage data
recorders) a possibility of stepped adjustment of output signal level of -6 dB, 0dB, +6dB is
realized in VI-116. The required jumpers position is to be selected after verification with the
documentation for voyage data recorders (simplified voyage data recorders) (parameters).
