It has been a while since our last newsletter and I expect this is largely be-cause of the work our committee and small army of volunteers has been doing to make the State Titles in October a successful event. This year was the first time that we have run the tournament in partnership with Tennis West (TW) and it proved to be a great success, judging by the numerous positive emails, comments, messages and Facebook posts we have re-ceived. A huge thank you to TW and to everyone at TSWA involved in the October tournament, including all of our members who took part or spec-tated over the 4 day period. Despite some inclement weather, we man-aged to complete the full program of events.
The partnership approach to managing the tennis side of TSWA opera-tions will be a feature of how we operate going forward and I expect that we will also be able to take further steps with TW towards the integration model that was outlined to members at the 2017 AGM. Planning is al-ready underway for the National Seniors Titles, to be held in the south-west of WA in January 2020, and jointly run by TSWA and TW. This is shaping as a signature event that will attract significant interest from in-ter-state and overseas as well as WA competitors, due to the opportunity to combine with other activities in the Margaret River/Busselton region. We will be taking advantage of the unique availability of two grass court clubs at Busselton in providing the main tournament location, with Bun-bury as the second venue in the first week.
Congratulations to Margaret Robinson on being inducted into the Tennis Seniors Australia Hall of Fame. Margaret is one of 12 inaugural inductees - and the only one from WA so far - into this new forum for recognising outstanding achievement as a seniors player. Well done also to Alan Gooch, Helen Muir and Jan Maddison for their selection and representa-tion in Australian Teams at World Titles in September this year.
I wish you all a very Merry Christmas as well as enjoyable tennis wherever you are playing. We look forward to seeing you at our future events.

Australian Teams Carnival in 2020 will be hosted by Tennis Seniors
IN BUSSELTON WA 2020
Teams Week: 5—10 January
Individual Championships 12—17 January
The Teams Carnival is a doubles competition for both women and men and is a wonderful opportunity
to compete against teams and players from all over Australia and overseas. Enter a team with your
friends through your State, or nominate in your State and be selected in a team. Teams should ideally
consist of 5 or 6 players, and will play other teams in their division in a round robin competition.
Teams are grouped according to player age, in 5 or 10 year brackets from age 35 years, and are placed
in divisions within an age bracket according to team strength.
Teams may play two matches per day (morning and afternoon) with a time limit of 2.5 hours per
match. Matches consist of 4 doubles and are played using the best of 2 set format.
Team members must play in their State or National tops or shirts.
Social functions are organised during the week, and there is an official opening on Sunday afternoon
after the practice sessions on 5 January 2020.
Haven’t participated before—

Important announcement from the Executive of Tennis Seniors Australia Australian Seniors Tennis Players Hall of Fame
“I think my greatest victory was that every time I walked out there, I gave it every-thing I had. I left everything out there. That’s what I’m most proud of.” – Jimmy Connors Perhaps that is true of most great champions. But it’s tough. It takes determination, guts, skill and strategy, hours and hours of practice, talent, fitness and a fighting spirit. And indeed, the ability to lose with dignity and to learn from those losses. Which is why those in our seniors tennis ranks who have succeeded at the very highest level de-serve to be recognised in a very special way. They display these attributes – over the years they have brought honour and pride to their country, as well as the achievement of their own personal goals. It is with this in mind, that the Executive of Tennis Seniors Australia is delighted to announce the creation of the Australian Seniors Tennis Players Hall of Fame, to be launched at the Presentation Dinner to be held on Friday 11 January 2019, in Shepparton. It is based on a formula that takes account of titles won at both World and Australian Championships, and in singles, doubles and mixed. This formula is based on a sensitively constructed points system, with points to be updated annually. The points table, currently up to 31 December 2018, can be accessed on the TSA website under “tournaments/tournament honour board/Hall of Fame points table”. Depending on their level of achievement, a player can be invited to the Hall of Fame as an Inductee, an Elite or a Leg-end. Australia has always punched well above its weight in international competition. Many have won World Titles. But only 12 have made the initial entry to the Hall of Fame, and they will be inducted during a special part of proceedings at the Shepparton Presentation Dinner. The Executive extends heartiest congratulations to all 12 of them, and most notably to our inaugu-ral Legend, Carol Campling. For the record, she has won 2 ITF World Singles Titles, 17 World Dou-bles, 1 World Mixed, plus 16 Australian Singles, 22 Doubles and 18 Mixed. What a record! - and very definitely deserving of Legend status! The 12 inductees are: Elizabeth Allan Kerry Ballard Ros Balodis Glenn Busby Carol Campling Peter Froelich Bob Howes Robert McCarthy Andrew Rae Beverley Rae Margaret Robinson Margaret Wayte
